  • Resumen

  • “Growing up, I thought fishing was all about throwing a hooked worm into a body of water, attach a bobber on the line, and wait. And wait some more. It wasn’t until I met my husband, an avid fly fisherman, a few years ago, that I discovered fly fishing, a much more dynamic type of fishing. From the distance it looked so challenging, almost impossible for me to even try. Which is why I did end up I trying it. I would find trees and bushes to get snagged up on where no one else would find any trees and bushes, I’d end up with destroyed flies by what I thought were snags, blaming myself so many times for being unable to pick up the skill, for not knowing that “something” that everyone else seemed to know. Got discouraged and almost gave up countless times, but figured what the heck, I’ve done things much more complicated in life, I can do this too. So I kept trying, kept learning, kept driving my husband crazy, kept practicing knots at the dinner table to redo rigs much faster than trying to untangle them, hiding being intimidated on the water as much as I could, until I got better. Only to learn that it’s not always about catching the fish and the adrenaline rush, but also about our mental wellbeing, inner peace brought on by the beautiful nature, people you meet, and always about that “one more cast”. I will always consider myself a newbie because there is also something else to learn, to try, to find new techniques and setups that work. And pass that knowledge on to those who appreciate the waters and the nature. My goal is to promote the sport among women and children, both as an angler and a guide, to help create new and future generations of ethical fly fishing anglers.
