I love this Book! but what book did reviewer read?
while the reviewer got a lot right, he did miss some details that were actually elucidated in the book, but he must've only read it once. I read it 4 or 5 times, and you notice more details with each reading. It's such a great vision of Thailand, You can tell Bacigalupi spent quite some time in authentic Thailand. it's a very special place, so different. from the western world. but back to the corrections, She is not seen as a machine as much as an designed animal, like a living doll, but the windup girl, is actually an improved human, without the ability to reproduce, but she is incredibly strong and quick, but she cannot thrive in Thailand, because her skin has too small of pores to sweat enough to cool her down in the incredibly hot Thailand city of Bangkok, "Krung Thep" , City of the Gods. The reviewer also said it wasn't clear if blister rust was natural ir created, but it was stated that it was put out by the calorie companies to attack crop that didn't have their special protections, but then of course it evolves and now they can barely stay ahead of it. Also this is the source of the plagues that he wasn't clear about, this, blister rust, and other bioengineered diseases, that were designed, largely by the calorie companies to make people have to buy their crops that are resistant to it. As to ecocollapse goes, right now in the real world, we've extincted 70% of all species that existed in 1972, by birth year. If you are concerned, you should look into the info brought to us by Billy Eduard Albert Meier from his friends who fly in flying saucers and he's been allowed to take some many amazing photos and videos of over the last 60 years. it sounds like sci-fi but it is real. Reality is truly stranger than fiction.
