The Tampa Bay Rays made their first (of what might be many) big trade by sending fan favorite Randy Arozarena to the Seattle Mariners for OF Aidan Smith (20), RHP Brody Hopkins (22) and a player to be named later. Smith is hitting .309/.433/.514 (155 wRC+) over his last 175 ABs, good speed, big power but whiffs could be an issue. He is now ranked at Rays system no.6 prospect. Hopkins has a big arm (FB reaches 99mph), breaking pitches are out of a Pitching Ninja video…but, can he develop command? He’s now ranked at No.11 in Rays system.

This is a big, emotional letdown for the fanbase but logically has merits as Randy gets older, more expensive and possible decrease in production. However, no one can ever take those great memories Rays fans have of Randy Arozarena.
