The luxury of having a vast library of manga at your fingertips is priceless. Well, most of the apps aren't free, but reading as much as you want is a true blessing from the heavens. OK, most sites do cap your daily limit, but come on, having hundreds of thousands of series available to read whenever you want is incredible! I mean, some of them aren't translated to English yet so you have to go elsewhere to find them and... Look, can we- can we just agree that having digital manga is fantastic? Yes? Good? Ok, excellent. Dark Horse Comics agrees; so much so that they've partnered with WebToon to bring more of their series to the digital world, and have even teamed up with an upcoming digital manga marketplace created by DSTLRY to offer more of their library to digital readers as well! So, yeah, digital is great! Except, you know, you usually don't own the series you read digitally, so there's that and all...

For years now, we have vented our frustration and disappointment over not getting new manga series as quickly as we would like. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is a perfect example of this phenomenon where an English translation will come 5, 10, or even 15 years after the series has concluded... ಠ﹏ಠ So, to help satiate our appetite while we patiently wait for a physical or digital release, many fans will turn to fan translated versions of the series online. These sites helped to bring many new series over to the English-reading population and was a perfect placeholder for fans to either catch up on a series or simply start something new while waiting for the official English release to be announced. Now, sadly, many of these sites are receiving cease and desists from the licensing companies and have been forced to either remove titles from their library or shut down all together. Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage will recap the recent string of events that took place for some of these fan translation sites and what this could mean for the future of English manga readers.
