  • Episode 256: Dr. Jay Jorge: A Metabolic Surgeon and Obesity Specialist Extraordinaire
    Nov 26 2025

I’ve worked with many bariatric surgeons over the years. Some are incredible in their thinking about the disease of obesity from a whole-person perspective… others seem only interested in the surgical procedure itself. When I was recently introduced to Dr. Jorge, I knew immediately that he is a rare breed of physician in the most incredible ways. Dr. Jorge works with patients who are interested in losing weight with tools such as surgery or medications and also with patients who are not interested in either a surgical procedure or any medications. He has ALL of his patients, regardless of how they opt to lose weight, have a psychological evaluation and encourages them to follow through with therapy if it is indicated. He is interested in each of his patients as whole people, understanding that their disease of obesity intersects with all areas of their lives. Enjoy the listen!

  • Episode 255: Alone and Depressed After Weight Loss…AND I’m MARRIED!
    Nov 19 2025

This episode could also be called how relationships between significant others change following weight loss. This topic is linked to Episode 244 called Alone and Depressed. A podcast listener had emailed me and in the original “Alone and Depressed” episode, I used her direct quotations focusing on the many ways she felt alone and depressed. In her initital email to me, she asked about changes in people’s primary, intimate relationships that are related to weight loss. This is what I’ll talk about in today’s episode.

The Weight Loss Winformation Podcast gives you essential psychological information to help you lose weight and more importantly, to help keep you at a healthy weight for your body! • Episode 254: Anisa Grantham, a Post-Op, a Therapist, and a Woman Known by Most in the Bariatric Community
    Nov 12 2025

To my knowledge, few therapists have worked in the bariatric community for as long as I have. Anisa Grantham IS one of those therapists! Anisa and I have a very similar background, both starting our careers as Addictions therapists. We have both brought so much of our philosophy from the 12-Step recovery world into our work in the bariatric community. In this episode, Anisa and I talk about the critical need to provide weight loss patients with the education and tools they need to navigate the real world after losing weight. Anisa is also a post-op herself, so listen in, learn from her personal story and the amazing work she does as a professional in the bariatric community, to include a support group that is open to all!

  • Episode 253: Compassion + Accountability = Healing, Weight Maintenance and Living Fully
    Nov 5 2025

I hate math and numbers and all things even remotely related to such things! But boy, do I have an equation for you that could maybe cast shame on Albert Einstein’s c=mc2. Well… I honestly know nothing about that so I’m probably exaggerating. STILL… my equation, which, by the way, has no numbers in it, can help you achieve any goal you set out to accomplish in life, including the goal to lose weight and maintain that weight loss. You heard the equation in the title of this episode, but here it is again: Compassion + Accountability = Healing, Weight Maintenance and Living Fully. This may be my favorite episode thus far!

  • Episode 251: Big T AND Little t Trauma in Your Weight Journey
    Oct 22 2025

Many of us think we escaped life without having experienced trauma. I say, “Guess again!” because as it turns out, many – if not most people – do experience the internal pain that is trauma, related to either big T or little t traumatic events. Trauma impacts how we react to stress in life… and our reactions to stress are often what lead us directly to the things that steer us away from maintaining weight loss or refraining from alcohol/other drug use, excessive spending, or other unhealthy behaviors. That means that unrecognized and unresolved emotional damage from traumatic events may be interfering with your ability to sustain the healthy lifestyle behaviors necessary for ongoing weight loss… not to mention the ability to have healthy interpersonal relationships. You’re gonna want to hear and share today’s episode!
