  • S16 Ep2: Sorry, Auntie Josie
    Aug 15 2024
After Manchester City won the Community Shield on penalties, David Mooney is joined by City fans Bob Toole and Ciaran Murray to discuss the performance and the result. They also look at the penalty shoot-out and the stories that came out of it.
With Chelsea on the horizon, they discuss which of the impressive younger players could have a role to play this weekend (plus the unfortunate injury to Oscar Bobb), while Dan Childs from Son of Chelsea speaks to Dan Burke to explain what on earth is happening at Stamford Bridge at the moment.
We hear from the former City goalkeeper Nicky Weaver, who tells us why he fondly remembers a 3-0 defeat at Chelsea on the opening day of the 2006-07 season. And we also take a look at the introduction of semi-automated offside... part-way through the coming season.

  • S16 Ep1: You're on Your Own Here, Pal
    Aug 8 2024
The Blue Moon Podcast is back for the 2024-25 season. Joining David Mooney is, from StatCity.co.uk, Adam Carter, and Manchester City fan Ally Fogg to preview the new season.
We start with a look back over the pre-season tour of the USA and its standout performers. Could Oscar Bobb, James McAtee or Nico O'Reilly have an impact in the first team in these opening weeks? We also look at the shape of the squad, as Julian Alvarez departs for Atletico Madrid.
We speak to Howard Cohen, chair of the Disabled Supporters Association, after blue badge holders were told unexpectedly that it would now cost them per game to park at the Etihad this season.
Pre-season might not be your bag, but in years gone by it used to be the only way to watch City against foreign opposition. Supporter Keith Hancock tells us about one extraordinary time in Denmark when he ended up on the bench alongside the players.
And with the Olympics in Paris still going on, we hear about the only City player ever to win an Olympic medal in a sport that wasn't football. Mick Collins, who wrote a biography of the player, talks to us about Max Woosnam.

Manchester City have made history with their fourth Premier League title in a row. David Mooney is joined by City fans Richard Burns and Adam Monk to reflect on the 3-1 victory over West Ham - and to discuss the wider story about City's achievement this and the previous three seasons.
With the title has come the discussion around City's recent dominance: So how do City fans feel about the narrative that the Premier League is boring, that there's been no jeopardy, or that it is worth less because of the charges the club faces? We take a look at all of that.
Plus, it's time again for the alternative highlights of the season. Ciaran Murray and KC are back to chat through the moments that you might otherwise have forgotten.
And then it's time for the second Manchester Derby FA Cup final in two seasons... We preview that, as well as answer your questions around Ederson, Guardiola's future, and the season's underrated players.

Manchester City stand on the brink of history, providing they can find a way past West Ham on the final day of the 2023-24 season. David Mooney is joined by City fan Adam Keyworth and journalist Martin Blackburn to discuss the upcoming game - and the week that's got City into this position.
They look at nerves and anxiety, both in beating Fulham and Tottenham - and in preparing for the Hammers on Sunday. We hear from James Jones from We Are West Ham to get the opposition perspective on the final day, too.
Sports psychology consultant Martin Robert Hall joins the show to discuss superstitions - for fans, managers and players - after Guardiola revealed he wore his woolly jumper at Fulham in spite of the heat because it had been working for him previously.
We also hear from Nick from the Man City Fans Foodbank Support group, who can tell us how influential City fans have been this season in helping to provide for those most in need in Manchester - as he and the team prepare for their final collection of the campaign.

  • S15 Ep41: Copulating Pigeons
    May 9 2024
Manchester City made a tricky game with Wolves look simple on Saturday, so can they do that again when they visit Fulham and Spurs this week? On today's Blue Moon Podcast, David Mooney is joined by City fan Ally Fogg and the Daily Mail's Jack Gaughan to look at the return to goalscoring form of Erling Haaland.
His latest City hat-trick broke a Premier League record... and Dan Burke looks back over previous Premier League hat-tricks at the Etihad. Plus, we look at comments recently that City are boring and that even City fans are bored - and why that's so wide of the mark.
Jack from Fulhamish joins the show to explain how their season has been, while another Jack - this one from the Rule the Roost podcast - tells us why exactly he wants Tottenham to lose so that Arsenal don't win the title.
