Bubba's Comedy

De: Stephen James Butler
  • Resumen

  • Hello, my name is Stephen James, and welcome to my podcast, Bubba's Comedy.

I fell in love with stand-up comedy in 2012, and it was a match made in heaven from the very first performance. The bond and shared passion with fellow comedians I met every weekend assured me that I had found my calling. They say if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. Well, in 2015, my life took an unexpected turn. I was no longer just a comedian; I became a survivor of gun violence, having been shot in the face. Despite years of rehabilitation and the challenge of speaking again, I've been on a long journey toward mental recovery, battling PTSD and depression daily. Yet, it's on stage where I truly thrive, spreading joy to a crowd of people and momentarily lifting their spirits. In this podcast, I share my journey back to the stage and my second chance at life. You'll also hear from guests sharing their stories, as we explore the resilience that propels us through life's unpredictable path.

  • Anna Rhodes, I Have This Uterus Just Lying Around.
    Jun 6 2024

In this episode, we tackle the subjects of depression, overcoming fears, and chasing dreams despite life's challenges. Traditionally, pregnancy involves three parties: the couple and the doctor. Some might consider my views traditional, but I believe this is the proper approach. Yet, this pregnancy was extraordinary; she aimed to bestow the gift of life upon a couple who couldn't conceive naturally. In the South, women seeking pregnancy often confront hurdles, sometimes needing to consult senators and governors. Our guest today, Anna Rhodes, opted to become a surrogate, jokingly remarking that her uterus was 'just lying around.' Enjoy the episode as we share laughter, shed tears, and explore deep topics. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.

  • Daryl Felsberg is All Business, Comedy Business
    May 22 2024

This week, I had the pleasure of chatting with Darryl Felsberg, a comedic force since his start in the Texas Panhandle back in 2000. Like many comedians, an open mic was his gateway to a world of laughs, and what a journey it's been! In our talk, we delve into his past, peek into his future, and even get down to the nitty-gritty of comedy's business side. It turns out, there's a whole lot more to comedy than just penning punchlines, and we cover it all in this episode.
