  • After winning on the hit television series BOER SOEK 'N VROU, René de Klerk teamed up with her co-winner Richann Brüssow to form the music duo Reën which took South Africa by storm. Their first single Vrystaat Vlaktes had - at the time of writing - nearly 1,5 million views on YouTube. In this episode we talk to René about following her passion and what it takes to pursue a career in the music industry. We also ask her: should you first study and then get into the arts, or should you simply follow your heart? Listen as René shares her story and thoughts in this insightful and inspiring episode.

    Hailing from Winburg in the Free State province, South Africa, René completed her MA Political Science & Communication, specialising in democracy in Sub-Saharan Africa. She also served as a translator and junior lecturer in Political Science at the University of the Free State.
