Lonely Planet, a leading authority on travel, has released its “Best in Travel” list for 2023, and Dominica (pronounced Dom-in-EEK-a) is one of the finest places to relax. Dominica has never before been recognized as a top travel destination in the Best in Travel section of Lonely Planet. The 18th annual compilation of the top travel destinations and experiences for the next year is being published this year. The 30 must-see places listed in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2023 are centered on food, travel, connection, learning, and relaxation.

Every year, nominations are made by members of Lonely Planet’s large network of professionals, authors, bloggers, publishing partners, and other individuals. Their panel of travel industry professionals then narrows the list of nominees down to only 30 places. Each is picked for its current relevance, distinctive experiences, “wow” factor, and ongoing dedication to sustainability, community, and diversity.

A thorough selection of itineraries are provided in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2023 with the goal of assisting travelers in discovering the world while following along with some extremely knowledgeable local experts. The youngest Caribbean island and the last to be colonized, Dominica (pronounced Dom-in-EEK-a; not to be confused with the Dominican Republic) attained independence on November 3, 1978.
