  • Catch Up on Coolock with Kelly Earley
    Jul 26 2024

Send your thoughts, feelings, opinions and suggestions to 0892096423!

Kelly Earley is a writer who I was previously familiar with via her very unserious contributions to the Daily Edge (we worked there at different times) and generally gas posts on social media. Last week, though, she wrote something serious in response to what was happening in Coolock. Kelly is from Coolock, and felt like there was significant context being left out of the conversation. I caught up with her this week to discuss some of the challenges many people from areas like Coolock face when it comes to personal development, how the far right take advantage of that, and what could be done to improve things.

This week's guest spent ten years interviewing women who are not mothers, via a range of circumstances including personal choice, fertility issues and more. Nicole Louie's search for other women's experience in order to help her process her own choice to live child-free resulted in Others Like Me: The Lives of Women Without Children, which you can buy here. This week, Nicole and I discussed the book as well as the way society treats women who choose not to become parents.

  • Catch Up with Erica Tierney
    Jul 12 2024

Send your thoughts, feelings, opinions and suggestions to 0892096423!

Erica Tierney was one of the first guests I had on in the early days of this podcast. Life was getting back to normal for her after having a baby and being treated for breast cancer all at the same time, but she was determined to make a change for women like her whose maternity leave was taken up by cancer treatment. The political will was there, and it felt like change was coming, but two years later nothing has changed. This week, I spoke to Erica again. She is back in the world of cancer, having been diagnosed with breast cancer again, and more determined than ever to improve things for other women.
