  • Who are God’s true people today? (Amos 9, v. 7 - 12)
    Feb 22 2026

Who makes up God’s true Israel today?

It is those who dwell in the true temple which is the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

It is the remnant out of mankind who have turned from sin and believed in Him for eternal salvation. “They are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children ... They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed” (Romans 9:6-8).

So natural, physical descent does not make anyone a true Israelite, a true son of Abraham, a true child of God. Rather, it is being in Christ by means of the new birth. The Israelites in the time of Amos were not the true seed of Abraham, just because they were physically descended from him.

They were not true Israelites, just because they belonged to the nation called Israel. They were in fact the chaff to be sifted and destroyed, as verse 9 explains. They were to be taken off into captivity, and their kingdom would cease to exist. Yet God also promises here that He will restore the fallen tabernacle of David.

A more glorious Israel is coming, over which Christ will be the Head. To this kingdom a remnant of mankind will belong. God will own this remnant as His own people. He will do so, because they have turned from sin and trusted in Christ. These, and these alone, are God’s true people.

Let us today, as those who have believed in Christ for salvation, rejoice in the reality that we are God’s true people. Our King is the greater David, the Lord Jesus Christ, and “he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet” (1 Corinthians 15:25).

  • True Christians Are In A Battle Against Satan - Put on God's Whole Armour
    Feb 8 2026

    A sermon on Ephesians 6:10-17

Christians are meant to be strong and courageous. We are in a spiritual battle which we cannot fight in our own strength. Satan is shooting his flaming arrows at true believers. How they need the armour which God has supplied. In these verses Paul describes the spiritual armour which the Christian must put on. He employs the image familiar to his readers of the Roman soldier. He is writing this letter from Rome, and may even have been looking at a Roman soldier as he wrote.

  • How Each Individual is Personally Responsible to God (Ezekiel 18, v20-22)
    Feb 1 2026

Each individual is personally accountable to God.

Sin always has consequences. “The soul that sinneth, it shall die”. This is fundamental to the Christian gospel.

This is the same as Paul’s declaration in Romans 6, “The wages of sin is death” (v23). This death is being outside of God's favour, under His wrath, a plight leading to an eternal condemnation, an eternal death. We have also been told that the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son.

So, no one can blame their family or their environment for their sin, but each one is personally responsible before the Lord for his own actions. All are personally responsible to repent.

Indeed, God commands all men everywhere to repent. Those who do repent must then pursue all holiness of life.

We are not just called to take salvation and then carry on living as we did before. That is to mock God.

The one who repents and believes in Christ receives new life in the power of the Holy Spirit. This enables him to start keeping the commandments of God with all of his heart.

We are saved in order to be holy.

  • The Enormous Personal Transformation Which Becoming A Christian Really Is (Ephesians 5:8-10)
    Jan 27 2026

We learn from these verses 8-10 about the enormous contrast between a man's condition before his conversion to Christ and afterwards. Formerly he was in a horrible Satan-inspired darkness; now he lives in glorious light. Formerly he was a child of wrath and far off from God, now he is a new creature with a new nature. He has been rescued from Satan's kingdom, and brought into God’s kingdom. He now has the Holy Spirit within him.

This complete transformation brings obligations with it. True Christians must “walk as children of light". There must be a manifestation of the fruits of the Spirit in all goodness and righteousness and truth. A true son of God will exhibit his transformed status by applying his mind to putting to death all his former sin, endeavouring always to do the perfect will of God.

May the Lord help each one of us to walk as children of light.

  • Are You One of God's Peculiar People? (Titus 2, v11-15)
    Jan 18 2026

Those who repent of sin and trust in Jesus Christ for salvation belong to God’s ‘peculiar people, that is, they are His own very special possession.

How should such people live? Paul writes here that they must “deny ungodliness and worldly lusts” (v12). So, faith in the Lord Jesus can never be divorced from holiness.

Simply to believe that Christ lived and did good or that He is the Son of God do not on their own make one a Christian. There must also be a personal heartfelt turning to Christ for mercy, and a heartfelt resolve never to return to sin again.

The true Christian is one who loathes all his former sin, and resolves henceforth to purse all holiness of life.

As those who are God’s peculiar people, our calling is to “live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world” and to be “zealous of good works”, which means keeping God’s commandments.

The true Christian must serve his Lord zealously as he awaits the glorious appearing of the great God and Saviour Jesus Christ in final judgement.

  • THE 33:12 REPORT - Do Not Abuse God's Patience With You (1 Kings 2, v36 46)
    Jan 11 2026

Profound lessons from the life of Shimei, an Old Testament figure who set himself against the kingships of David and Solomon, God's appointed kings.

These two monarchs showed great patience and forbearance towards Shimei, but he tragically persisted in his rebellion.

Shimei depicts all who carry on refusing the offer of mercy in the gospel of Jesus Christ today. “Today if ye shall hear His voice, harden not your hearts" (Hebrews 3:7-8)

  • THE 33:12 REPORT -Taking Heart Whilst Serving in this Anti-Christian World (Psalm 59 v 9-17)
    Jan 4 2026

In Psalm 59 there is great encouragement for Christians living in a Satan-inspired hostile world.

    We see that:

    1. Wicked men are seeking David’s life

    2. David prays for their downfall, knowing that they will not repent

    3. David foreshadows our Lord. Wicked men likewise oppose Christ and His people today

    4. If they do not repent, we too may pray for their downfall

    5. David, surrounded by enemies, rejoices in God’s protecting power.

May we, as Bible-believing Christians in the face of all the opposition from a hostile world, be able to say with the apostle Paul, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” (Romans 8:37).

  • THE 33:12 REPORT - Dispatch From The Front Line - Proclaiming The Incarnation
    Dec 30 2025

In the final run-up to the day of the great celebration of Christ's birth Pastor Peter Simpson on two occasions went into the centre of Middlesbrough to proclaim the urgency of coming to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation and the gift of eternal life.

To declare the gospel of salvation for sinful men is the only way in which to put the message of the Incarnation (God becoming a man) into its true perspective. This podcast takes the form of a report on what took place during the two preaching and witnessing sessions.
