Tyler recently ran the Bloodroot Ultra 50k, a tough course with over 6,000 feet of vertical gain, finishing in just 6 hours and 32 minutes. Tyler has a list of impressive accomplishments such as biking 1267 miles from Upstate New York to Jacksonville Florida in just 14 days, running 60 minutes at the Utica Boilermaker 15k and placing 5th at the Brookfield Classic 50k trail run. Tyler is an entrepreneur, athlete and overall great guy. I hope you enjoy this motivating conversation.

    This week we are talking with Jared Beasley. Jared is a New York based author and journalist. He has written for The New York Times, The Guardian, Runners World , and is also a monthly columnist for Ultrarunning Magazine. His 2019 book, In Search of Al Howie, was awarded the Kirkus star for literary merit and was chosen by Kirkus as one of the best indie books of the year. Jared is releasing his new book next year, titled The Endurance Artist: A Racemaker’s Mad Quest to Reimagine Failure. This book highlights Lazarus Lake, creator of the Barkley Marathons and how he built ultra races that find the limits of human potential. Jared recently joined Lazarus for 2 weeks as he attempts to walk across the United States for a second time at the age of 69. Today we are going to dive into his new book, and his 2 week adventure with Laz.

  • Jenny Hanmer: Running The Boston Marathon, Training, Mindset, Nutrition, The Hardest Mile
    Jun 19 2024

    This week we are talking with Jenny Hanmer. Jenny is an accomplished runner, former triathlete, mother, business owner, wife and all-around badass. She has qualified for the Boston Marathon 7 times, and raced in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. She ran her first 50k at Green Lakes in 2022, placing second female. Jenny won the first annual Brookfield Classic 50k in Brookfield NY, beating a competitive field and finishing the race in 5 hours 30 minutes, just 1 minute off of the course record. She just got back from running the 2024 Boston Marathon in 3 hours 38 minutes which will be the topic of discussion today.

    This week we are talking with Dr. Steven Geanopulos. Dr. G is a renowned Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist dedicated to holistic health. He is one of America’s leading experts in lifelong, optimized living. Dr G recently visited our facility and tested the VO2 max on 5 participants. VO2 max is a powerful predictor of long term health and longevity. Studies have shown that individuals with a higher VO2Max tend to have a lower risk of various chronic diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, and even certain types of cancer. A higher VO2 Max could mean more years of life, and more importantly, more active, healthy years. In today’s conversation we are going to discuss in detail what VO2 max is, how to improve and we will be reviewing my personal testing results.

  • Mark Trombin and Monica Barzanti: The 3 Pillars of Italy’s San Patrignano Rehabilitation Program

    This week we are talking with Mark Trombin and Monica Barzanti. Mark lived 20 years as a cocaine addict, trying in vain to find his path. In 2016 he hit rock bottom. He decided to get in touch with San Patrignano, literally begging for help. He now works for San Patrignanoas an educator, co-managing an educational program. In Marks free-time he practices sports, basketball, weightlifting and develops entertaining social projects.

    Monica Barzanti, is currently Head of International Relations at San Patrignano, and began working with SanPatrignano as an educator in 1979, mentoring girls and young women in their recovery from drug addiction. In 1998, she joined the International Relations Team, coordinating and tutoring study visits to the SanPatrignano community and seminars on its approach to Substance Use Disorder by students, voluntary groups, social workers, policymakers, scholars, and people working in addiction, both Italian and foreign. She also collaborates in designing and implementing Master's courses on addictions. Since 2006, she has been a member of the Vienna NGO Committee, representing San Patrignano at UN events. She represents SanPatrignano in many International networks as a consultant and expert in recovery and prevention methods.

    San Patrignano is the largest recovery community for drug addicts in Europe. It is a community that welcomes those suffering from drug addiction and marginalization and helps them to once again find their way thanks to a rehabilitation program that is above all, a program based on love and it is free, because love is a gift. Robert F Kennedy Jr. spoke about this amazing facility and its high success rate in numerous podcast conversations, which is how I discovered this program and facility.     This week we are talking with Mizar Fuentes-Ortega. Mizar is the owner of OPEX gym in Montreal. OPEX Montreal opened it's doors in 2013 and empowers individuals to reach their peak potential in various facets of life, be it functional strength, weight management, martial arts or gymnastics. Under the tutelage of James FitzGerald, Mizar clinched consecutive qualifications for the CrossFit Regionals, and also completed the OPEX Coaches Certification Program. Additionally, Mizar is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, was named 1998 and 2000 gymnastics athlete of the year in Canada, and has a degree in mechanical engineering with a specialization in biomedical engineering from Dalhousie University.

  • Dave Durante: Power Monkey Fitness, Training Over 40, Public School Health and Physical Education

    This week we are talking with Dave Durante. Dave is a multiple time USA gymnastics national champion and was part of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Team. After retiring from competition, Dave helped coach his alma mater, Stanford University, to an NCAA Team Title in 2009 and has continued to be a part of the sport through his position on the Athlete Advisory Committee with the United States Olympic Committee. Dave was a lead coach with the CrossFit Gymnastics L1 course from 2013-2015. He also wrote and developed the CrossFit Gymnastics Advanced Course. Dave is co-owner of Power Monkey Fitness and the Power Monkey Camp.
