  • SPOT 301: The 'Blistered' Evolution of Plasma Canvas with Adrienne Rae Ash
    Feb 16 2023

Fort Collins, Colorado's Plasma Canvas has had quite the journey to get to this point. Having survived lineup changes, releasing their label debut during the uncertainty of a global pandemic, and personal hardships, the self-proclaimed "loudest gayest band in the world" unleashes their full-length debut LP 'DUSK' on February 17, 2023 on SideOneDummy Records. The band is celebrating the release of the album with a number of concerts in Colorado coming up, including stops in Denver, Colorado Springs, and right here in Fort Collins.

On this edition of ColoRadio Spotlight, we're joined today by frontwoman, guitarist and all-around badass Adrienne Rae Ash of Plasma Canvas. We discuss the new album, the evolution of the band since their 2020 EP KILLERMAJESTIC, effects of the pandemic, label misconceptions, and of course, love.

  • ColoRadio Spotlight: Sarah Christine
    Feb 11 2021

In 2019, Sarah Christine was comfortable. She had been with the same employer for 13 years and had been making music as a side hustle, releasing albums in 2017 and 2018, respectively, with a nationwide tour gearing up to happen in 2020.

As we all know, 2020 and the Coronavirus had other plans for so many of us, including Sarah. The cushy office job had become a nightmare: she was faced with the prospect of either choosing to quit or staying and having to fire large numbers of her team. The planned Let Go Tour was postponed, and as the virus raged across the US and the world, who knew how things would end up?

Facing an uncertain future, the safe choice would have been to keep her job and hunker down. Instead, Sarah Christine bet on herself and leave the company so she could focus full-time on music.

Sarah has a new single called Vices, a duet with Boulder's Taylor Tuke, coming out tomorrow, February 12th, but you'll hear Vices first exclusively a little bit later right here on ColoRadio.

Sarah Christine proves that by believing in yourself and not taking no for an answer, we are all capable of so much more than we think we are, and that we truly are "in it together". Her DIY attitude, her spirit, and her soulful voice are some of the many reasons we selected Sarah Christine as our artist of the month for February.

  • Interview with Whitacre @ UMS 2019
    Aug 3 2019
With a quarter of a million streams on Spotify, sold out shows with Mt. Joy, Susto and Birdtalker in 2018 and 100+ other performances under their belt, Whitacre is a group blurring the lines of folk, indie rock and bluegrass music. Their brand of folk-rock combines thought-provoking lyrics and high-energy live performances that led to tours with Family and Friends, Wilderado and Wild Rivers. Whitacre recently partnered with producer, Joe Richmond (of Tennis, Churchill) on a 5 song EP ‘Within The Mountains’ Shadows’ that was released at a sold out headline show in Denver, Colorado.

  • Interview with Zach Maxwell @ UMS 2019
    Aug 1 2019
We had a chance to chat with up-and-coming Denver pop artist Zach Maxwell at the 2019 Underground Music Showcase. We talk about the Denver music scene, Zach's impressions of UMS, moving from New York to Colorado, his inspirations as an artist, and more.

Zach Maxwell is a producer, songwriter, dancer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. By producing his own music and playing all the instruments in his tracks, he has been able to create that sound that he was searching for: melodies and production that are infused with influences from gospel, sacred music, hip-hop and pop, all with the underlying intention of connecting people to something greater than themselves. A sound that uplifts audiences and creates magic in the room. His music feels both ear-catchingly familiar and uniquely unexpected. Music that makes you want to think and feel. Music that makes you want to get down. Music for life.
