  • 6. Finding Your Own Journey

    In previous episodes we talked about some different modalities of healing, but what does that mean in real life? How can you overcome the trepidation you might feel about a new kind of healing?

    There is no one-size-fits-all approach to anything, but there is a beginning, an arc, and an ending. There is a basic framework that we establish, but we’re really going on a journey following the cues in your body.

    It will be necessary to move through some discomfort in order to find yourself on the other side. It is something that takes devotion, commitment, and work, and you will want to give up sometimes. That’s why we heal in community.

    My one-on-one spaces look like this:

    • We go over your human design, talk about your intentions and goals, and we create a direction together.
    • We start dropping into the body through body inquiry, breath work, and movement.

  • 5. Moving Toward Fear

    We’ve discussed creating safety within, but it’s not always attainable right away. Some threats, while not life threatening, can still threaten our sense of belonging and acceptance and the panic response can still take over.

    In the work I do with my clients, we work on bringing the unconscious into the conscious. Paying attention to your body’s responses to stressors allows you to reprogram them.

    First, we identify a resource, or a place of safety inside your body, and learn how to revisit that whenever we feel a trauma response happening. We then systematically expose ourselves to short periods of stress in order to reprogram stress responses and untangle the trauma programming we grew up with.

  • 4. What Is Somatic Healing Anyway?

    The limbic system in the brain is the part that is always looking for danger and anything that could threaten you. As you grew, different types of threats were experienced and your body’s reaction was set in place in order to keep you safe. Those reactions do make sense, but it doesn’t always seem like they do. Your limbic system wants you to stay in the familiar, no matter how uncomfortable or frustrating the familiar is.

    In this episode, I’ll go into more detail about:

    • The parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems
    • Stress response
    • Learning your signals

    Talk therapy and mindset work is valuable, but I’ve found that the deeper work of reprogramming your body’s responses has been a game changer.

  • 3. Why I Can't Tell You What To Do

    No one else can tell you what to do. Of course, we still need community and collaboration, but there is no course, training, framework, or person that can truly know who you are and give you the perfect map to step into your gifts.

    Trust me, I tried a lot of different frameworks trying to emulate someone else’s success. Just replicating someone else’s system didn't mean it was going to work. Instead, I had to tend to my nervous system and work through my fears.

    I got to the point where not trusting my intuition was costing me my sanity, my energy, my money, my time, so many things. How much suffering have you experienced just by second guessing yourself? It’s exhausting! Stop shoulding yourself and beating yourself up.

  • 2. What's Really Holding You Back

    What is really keeping you from standing anchored in your gifts and being the leader you were born to be? I’ll give you a hint: it’s not a lack of brilliance or certifications.

    What’s getting in the way is your limbic system, also known as the threat system. This is the part of the brain that processes all incoming information, analyzes the threat, and activates the autonomic nervous system accordingly. Your brain wants to keep you safe, but in order to step into your power you need to disrupt the cycle.
