  • Behind Enemy Lines (Sojourners Week 3)
    Aug 26 2024

Welcome to Creekside Community Church's online service! Guiding Question: What does it mean to be a faithful witness to Jesus during a time when influence and favor seem to be fading? Join us as we explore the third week of our "Sojourners" series, titled Behind Enemy Lines. In this message, we will unpack what it looks like to stand firm in our faith and be a witness to Jesus, even when the world around us is increasingly hostile. Message Highlights: Good Deeds (1 Peter 2:11-12): Discover why doing good is both an internal battle and a powerful external testimony. Our motives matter—let’s seek to do good not to earn our place in God’s kingdom, but because we already belong to it. Remarkable Hope (1 Peter 3:13-17): Learn how to trust in the Lord during persecution. This hope in God's vindication and His coming Kingdom is what sustains us through life’s trials. An Undeserved Bad Reputation (1 Peter 2:12; 3:16): Understand that we may be misunderstood and slandered for the right reasons. It’s not about defending our reputation, but about remaining faithful and good. Application: Seek opportunities to do good in every area of your life. Equip yourself with our growing library of resources to answer questions about your faith. Reflect on your reputation—if it’s negative, is it for the right reasons? Don't miss this powerful message that encourages us to remain faithful witnesses to Jesus, even in challenging times. • The Lottery of Life (Ecclesiastes 9:1-12)
    Jul 22 2024

Join us as we dive into the thought-provoking message, "The Lottery of Life," based on Ecclesiastes 9:1-12. Our preacher will explore the profound observations and frustrations of the Teacher in Ecclesiastes, who grapples with the apparent randomness of life and the inevitability of death. Key Points: Guiding Frustration: If following God’s ways offers no guarantee that life will go well, what is the point? (Ecclesiastes 9:1) The Best Players Don’t Always Win: The Teacher notes that skill and strategy do not always determine success because chance has a role in the outcome (Ecclesiastes 9:11-12). Moreover, death is the ultimate equalizer, affecting everyone regardless of their choices (Ecclesiastes 9:2-3). The Teacher’s Application: Since God has "pre-approved" enjoyment of His good, created gifts, the Teacher advises to find joy in life's ordinary aspects (Ecclesiastes 9:7-9). However, his understanding is limited, as he views death as the end (Ecclesiastes 9:10). Jesus’s Application: Jesus affirms the Teacher’s observations that life circumstances do not indicate righteousness (Luke 13:1-5). He challenges the notion that death is the end, promising a future accounting and an ultimate guarantee of well-being for those who follow Him. Join us as we unpack these themes and learn how to navigate the seeming randomness of life with faith and trust in God's plan. Our service will also include worship, prayer, and the Lord's Supper.
