  • God’s Standard (Daily Devotional)
    Jul 14 2024
Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally, thank you so much once again for giving us this wonderful opportunity to spend time in God's presence and God's word and a few moments in prayer as well. Today, we'll talk about taking up the cross. Luke chapter 9 and verse 23, ‘whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.’ Our friendship with God in Jesus is the greatest relationship on earth and yet, we often are separated by our refusal to submit to God's authority in our lives. Sometimes, we'd rather exercise our will rather than God's will. The spirit of self says, I will do it my way and I will do it the way I desire. Jesus provides a remedy for this disease when He calls us to take up our cross daily. The cross is where we give up all that we are clinging for in this world. The cross is where our self-life is immobilized. This may seem restricting and maybe painful to our selfish ambitions but as we obey the commands of Jesus in faith and in the power of His Spirit, we discover the greatest freedom and the joy given by Him that is unimaginable. It was bad enough for the disciples to hear that Jesus would suffer, be rejected and die on a cross. As He spoke these words, everybody knew what Jesus meant. In the Roman world, before a man died on a cross, he had to carry the cross to the place of execution and when the Romans crucified a criminal, they didn't just hang him on a cross, they first hung a cross on him. Carrying a cross always led to death on a cross. No one carried a cross for fun. The hearers of Jesus didn't need an explanation on the cross, they knew it was an unrelenting instrument of torture, death and humiliation. If someone took up his cross, he never came back, it was a one way journey. Here Jesus said that those who follow Him must voluntarily take up their cross. Jesus denied Himself equal to taking up the cross. The two phrases expressed the same idea, the cross wasn't about self-promotion or self-affirmation. The person carrying the cross knew they couldn't save themselves and that their self was destined to die. Denying yourself means to live as another centered person. Jesus made it clear that He spoke spiritually when He added the word daily. No one could be crucified literally every day. Daily they could have the same attitude as Jesus had. As we take up our cross daily, we enter into God's way of doing things and we are freed from doing things our way. Are we willing to surrender ourselves completely into God's hands? Let's pray, Father, we thank you once again for your word that is so alive and so powerful. Lord, even as we have read today, help us to walk in submission to your will, to deny things of the flesh, to walk in the Spirit. Enable us to be obedient to your word and to live by your word, we thank you, we give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen. • God’s Eternal Purpose (Daily Devotional)
    Jul 13 2024
Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally, thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to come your way and minister God's word and spend a few moments in prayer as well. This week, we'll be talking about God's will, how God purposes and leads us to fulfill every plan and purpose that He has for each of our lives. Today, let's look at God's eternal purpose. Psalms chapter 115 and verse 1, ‘not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.’ It's not about us, that's what Psalms chapter 115 says, ‘not to us, Lord, not to us. Make sure that God comes first in our life. Now it sounds simple but it's not that easy. It's good and wise for us to rest on the truth of God's word especially when we face the various challenges that life has to offer. It is important for us to trust the promises of His word for they are indeed food for our soul, refreshment for the weary, hope for the dejected and sufficient for all our needs in the day of trouble. Christ truly is our sufficiency. Every believer in Christ, rejoices in their salvation knowing that their sins have been forgiven and that they have received eternal life, knowing that we have a great, glorious inheritance which is laid up for us in heaven but there is much more that is contained in the purpose of God which was determined even before the world was made. The length and breadth and depth and height of God's eternal plan and purposes are so much greater than the individual circumstances and challenges that we may face in our life. Yet, by God's grace, we have been called according to His greater plan. We know it's not about us and we want to put God first but there are so many pressing needs in life that draw us away, problems to deal with and before we realize it, life becomes all about us. We know we have to put things first when we pray but often we put our own things when we begin to pray. And sometimes we worry about what people think of us rather than what God thinks of us. It takes a relationship with God that truly says, not to us, Lord, not to us. The more we get to know Him and grow closer to Him, the easier it is for us to put God first. We have to recognize who God is, what He has done for us and to help us direct our priorities. The plans and purposes of God do not revolve around us and our lives, although in His grace, He has included us in His greater purpose. Because we trusted Christ as Savior, we have become the called according to His purposes. Let's pray, Father, we thank you for this beautiful opportunity that you've given us and we thank you for your word that teaches us that you are in control of each and every area of our lives. We thank you that your eternal purpose will always rule and reign on this earth and in each of our lives. Help us to recognize, understand and walk in that purpose, we give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen. • Be an Example (Daily Devotional)
    Jul 12 2024
Welcome to Living Supernaturally, thank you for taking time to be part of this daily devotion. I'm sure it's going to be a great time as we look into God's word to see what God has for us today. Today, we are looking at 1 Timothy chapter 4, verses 12 and 13 says, ‘let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.’ These are the words of Paul and he's writing in his letter to Timothy and he's saying, dear Timothy this is what you need to do. He is saying let no one look down in disdain or look down upon your youth, just because you're a young man, young person let no one look down on your youth. He says, this is what you need to do, even if they look down, this is what you need to do and that will turn things around, You be an example, an example which means a model to be followed, a pattern to be used for living, a pattern for life, a model to be followed. He's saying be an example and he lists down various things. Be an example in your in word meaning your speech, be an example in the words that you speak, be an example in your conduct, in your behavior, in your lifestyle, the things that you do when people are watching, the things that you do when people are not watching, you be an example, you do not know who is observing you, who is looking at you to be for an example, who is considering you as a role model. So, be an example in word, be an example in conduct. He goes on to say be an example in love, God has loved us and He's given us His love in our hearts. The word of God says that the Holy Spirit has poured out His love, the God kind of love in our hearts and this love needs to be expressed for those even who are unlovable. So, he's saying be an example in the love that you share for others. Then he goes on to say be an example in spirit meaning your innermost being, in terms of intentions, in terms of motives because people can see or hear our speech, people can watch our lives and watch our lifestyle, watch our actions but what about our intentions Sometimes is saying be an example even in that, even in those hidden things of intentions and motives. Then he goes on to say be an example in faith, the way you live your life of faith, be an example. Lastly, he says, be an example in purity, in faith and in purity. Then he gives this instruction, till I come, give attention, give attention to reading, give attention to exhortation and give attention to the teaching to the doctrine. Shall we pray, Father, we thank you for these instructions of life and godliness that we see in your word. Today, God even as we've heard this, enable us to be an example, a model, a pattern that others can follow in all these various things, whether it be our word, in our speech, in our actions, in our the hidden things of motives and intentions, in all this enable us to be examples for others to follow that you might be glorified, that you might be honored, we thank you, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen. • Exercise Towards Godliness (Daily Devotional)
    Jul 11 2024
Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally, our daily devotion and we are here to look into God's word, to meditate on God's word and see how we can apply it so that we can live victorious lives, supernatural lives. We've been focusing on Paul's letter to Timothy and today we are going to look at 1 Timothy chapter 4 and verses 6 to8. 1 Timothy chapter 4, verse 6, Paul's writing and he's saying, ‘if you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. But reject profane and old wives’ fables and exercise yourself towards godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.’ So, Paul writes to Timothy and he's saying a good minister is one who is himself nourished in these words of faith and good doctrine. So, that's the first thing, as a good minister, are you nourished yourself in the words of faith and in good teaching, firm, established teaching? The second one he says is that a good minister also instructs others in the very same thing, he instructs others in a manner that they are also nourished in the words of faith. They are nourished, they are edified, it is good nourishment, we're not serving something that is substandard, not serving something that does not nourish the people, we're not serving something that just makes people feel good but the word of God which is being served and which is being shared, nourishes them and strengthens them and is good for their spiritual life and for godliness. So, saying are you nourishing others in the same thing, the words of faith and of good doctrine? He goes on to say but you need to reject, not only are you serving and nourishing others but you need to reject and reject what? Reject unprofitable, profane, unholy and unprofitable stories or information, something that does not edify; to reject it, once you know that this is not going to be helpful or it has something that is of the flesh, it is not pure, it is not holy, it is not virtuous reject it. So, Paul is writing and saying reject it and he says, exercise yourself towards godliness meaning reverence, respect, piety and holiness towards God. You exercise yourself which means it requires work, it's an intentional thing, it's a purposeful thing so he says you exercise yourself towards godliness. He goes on to explain, we know that bodily exercise, things that we do for our body, to exercise and for good health and so on; bodily exercise is profitable, is advantageous a little but then godliness is profitable for all things or it is useful and advantageous for all things for this life on the earth and for the life that is to come. Shall we pray, Father, we thank you Lord for these words, for the words of wisdom, for the words inspired by the Holy Spirit and Lord we pray that we ourselves will be nourished by these words, words of faith and doctrine. Lord, we pray when we share with others, it'll be the same, the words that nourish others in faith and good doctrine. We pray that we will reject those things that are unholy and unprofitable, we thank you, we give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’s matchless name we pray, Amen. • The Gospel (Daily Devotional)
    Jul 10 2024
Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally, thank you for being here today, thank you for taking this time to be part of this daily devotion. We've been looking at Paul's letters to Timothy and particularly we know that there are a lot of instructions, there's a lot of wisdom, there's a lot of practical things that Timothy is receiving in the form of instructions from Paul. So, we are looking today at 1 Timothy chapter 3 and verse 16, and Paul writes and he says, ‘and without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, and received up in glory.’ In a nutshell, Paul is putting together the reason why the Lord came and what He did and right from birth, till the time He was glorified and He ascended to heaven and this in a nutshell is the gospel and this is what he is sharing with Timothy and he's declaring it to Timothy once again. And he says God was manifest in the flesh, lest we forget the Lord Jesus, yes He had an earthly birth but it was a supernatural birth. The word of God declares that this was God manifest in the flesh. So, God laid aside His glory, His majesty and He was manifest in the flesh. Now this is very important, it's an important creed and it's an important truth for us to understand and to receive and it's central to our belief and central to our faith as Christians, as followers of the Lord Jesus. So, God was manifest in the flesh and He was fully empowered by the Holy Spirit to do what He was called to do and whatever He did, He did by the power of the Holy Spirit. Next He declares that He was justified in the Spirit. He was declared to be holy and sinless in the Holy Spirit. This happened at the time of water baptism, when John baptized the Lord Jesus, the Lord Jesus came out of the waters from the river Jordan and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him, there was a voice from heaven to declare, ‘this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.’ The voice of the Father, affirming that this is Jesus, the beloved Son in whom He's well pleased, which means that He was holy, He was sinless, He was not doing anything wrong, He has not done anything wrong and the Father is well pleased. It also goes on to say that He was seen by the angels, that He was visible to the angels, He was preached among the Gentiles and we see this happening in the book of Acts, after the Lord was taken up, He was preached among the Gentiles; starting from the house of Cornelius, the Roman centurions. For the first time in his house, there were people who were non-Jewish people who were gathered and He was preached, Jesus was preached among the Gentiles. He was glorified and believed on in the world and glorified and received up in glory. Now this is the gospel, this is the great news and Paul is reiterating this is what it is, you need to handle and receive the whole counsel of God's word. Shall we pray, Father, we thank you for the wonderful and marvelous gospel of the Lord Jesus. We thank you for all that happened that you were manifest in the flesh and we thank you that you carried our sickness, our sin upon yourself and we thank you that this good news reached us and because of which we are saved today. We give you praise and Lord we pray that we will go ahead and declare this to others as well, we thank you, in Jesus’s matchless name we pray, Amen. • House Rules (Daily Devotional)
    Jul 9 2024
Hello, we're so glad that you could be here for Living Supernaturally, our daily devotion, where we look at God's word so that we can learn and apply God's word. This week, we've been focusing on Paul's red letters to Timothy and we've been looking at some of these verses here. It is so rich with the content, it is so rich with instruction and command and revelation. So, today let's look at 1 Timothy chapter 3 verses 14 and 15. 1 Timothy chapter 3, verse 14, Paul writes and he says, ‘these things I write to you, Timothy though I hope to come to you shortly; but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.’ So, Paul is writing to Timothy and he's saying, I hope to come to you quickly but if I am delayed I'm writing with this intention that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself, how you ought to behave in the house of God. He uses a Greek word there meaning household or family of God. So, he's talking about this gathering which is the house of God and he's saying this is the family or the household of God, which means that you ought to know how to conduct yourself, how to behave in the family or the household of God. Now we know that in a family, there are people of various age groups, there are people of various levels of maturity and there are people in various seasons of life. So, it's a mix of all this, different stages of growth and maturity, different seasons of life and so on. So, there could be elders, there could be young adults, there could be teens, there could be youth and there could be children. So, Paul is saying telling Timothy, you ought to know how to conduct yourself which means that for all these age groups, we need to know how to conduct ourselves and the parallel there, an example there is that it's a family, it's a household of God. So, we know for sure that in a family, in a household there are several dynamics, there are several things that are in place, there are house rules, there are certain rules that are there that are peculiar to households and they're peculiar to families but these need to be carried out or obeyed for harmony and for everything to go well. So, house rules, there are responsibilities, not just rules but responsibilities where everyone serves in different capacities. Well, some responsibilities could be big for the leaders of the family, for the elders in the family, the responsibilities could be maybe something to do with finances, something to do with some major, big decisions but there could be other responsibilities where others serve in different ways. Also, there is mutual respect and honor for each other and everyone is working towards one thing, so, this is the family. Paul is saying you know you need to know how to conduct yourself in such a household, in such a family. So, this is the understanding that we have about the household, about the family of God. Shall we pray, Father, we thank you that church is not just a gathering or not just a ritual on every Sunday that we do but it is a household, it is a family. We thank you that in a family, all these different dynamics are in place and Lord, we thank you that your word gives us the wisdom and the know how to conduct ourselves in the church, in the household of faith, we thank you, we give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’s matchless name we pray, Amen. • One Mediator (Daily Devotional)
    Jul 8 2024
Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally, this is the daily devotion all of All People's Church and we are so glad that you could be here today. We have been meditating this week on some of the instructions that Paul writes to Timothy in his epistles, in his letters to Timothy, who's a young pastor and these are some instructions to him. So, we look at 1 Timothy chapter 2 and verses 3 to 6, so he says, ‘for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, for this is good and acceptable.’ So, what is good and acceptable? In the previous verses he talks about praying for those in authority and he says for this is good and it is acceptable. In fact, it is God's desire, God's will, in other words that Greek word says it's God's wish, it's God's desire, wish or preference for all to be saved, for all to experience salvation, for this is good and that is why we need to pray. So, it's God's wish, it's God's desire for all to be saved, to receive this free gift of salvation and to come to the knowledge of what we can call as the truth, the knowledge of the truth. He also goes on to mention that there's only one mediator, there is one connection that one go between God and man, God who is holy, who is infinite and man who is sinful and finite, there is one only one mediator, one bridge or one connection for this salvation, to receive this free gift of salvation and this one mediator is the Lord Jesus Christ. There is only one mediator, so there are no other mediators. Scripture is very clear that man cannot reach God by himself or herself, that we cannot have any kind of self-help or reformation and by all these ways attain or receive salvation. God has made a provision and that is only one mediator between God and man and that is Christ Jesus. The Lord Jesus Himself says in John chapter 14 and verse 6 says, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through me.’ So, this is reiterated once again in the words of the Lord Jesus Himself that no one can come to the Father except through Him and He did that so that He can pay that ransom. The Bible declares in verse 6 that He Himself is the ransom, the price that He paid to redeem man from slavery. So, to buy back, to redeem, He paid the ultimate price, the ransom. Today, even as we look to God, let's acknowledge the fact that there is only one mediator, Christ Jesus. Shall we pray, Father, we thank you that there is only one mediator, that you are the way the truth and the life and no one can come to the Father except through you. If we have been found Lord trying to reach through various other means, through our performance and through other things, Lord we know that we cannot, there is only one way and that is you God. We thank you that salvation is free and you are extending it to each one of us, we thank you, we give you the praise and glory, in Jesus’s matchless name we pray, Amen.
