    The 60th National Apple Harvest Festival takes place at the South Mountain Fairgrounds just outside of Gettysburg October 5-6 and 12-13, 2024.

    This nationally recognized event is presented by the Upper Adams Jaycees and celebrates the fall season with beautiful handmade crafts, delicious food, and jam-packed entertainment.

    Every year, the festival takes place the first two weekends of October. If you can't visit this year, mark your calendars for next year. You can pick your own apples and find several farmer-owned markets to visit with our free Adams County Crop Hop digital passport.

    Today's guest is the Superintendent of Gettysburg National Military Park and Eisenhower National Historic Site. Kristina Heister is the first female to hold the important position and she'll tell stories of her family's connection to the American Civil War.

    You'll hear about the $13 million rehabilitation project on Little Round Top that was completed after almost 2 years of work.

    We also talk about the impact beavers have made at the “pond”, found at the base of Little Round Top.

    You'll also learn how you can stay at a historic structure on the battlefield as a short-term vacation rental, while helping to create revenue to support preservation efforts across the park.

  • World War II American Experience

    The WWII American Experience Museum and Education Center is another great location to visit in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

    The museum educates the public about the American sacrifices made during the world’s largest conflict of the 20th century, both on the battlefield and on the homefront, and honor their dedication to win the war and preserve freedom.

    You can experience a wide variety of authentic WWII vehicles, uniforms and artifacts in realistic dioramas and exhibits that portray, not just the battlefield, but the home front as well.
