  • 099: How to Surrender and Let Go of Fear
    Jul 15 2024

Welcome back to another episode of Do Life Big!

I'm recording this live right now from our mountain home in North Carolina. 🏔️ We just got here the other day, and we’re all excited to spend three weeks soaking up nature, hiking, ziplining, and just unwinding.

My favorite part? Sitting on the deck at night with a drink in hand, 🍷 listening to the stream in the backyard under a sky full of stars. 🌌 It’s such a peaceful contrast to Florida’s hustle and bustle.

Today’s episode is all about surrendering and letting go of fear. 😌 It's funny how when you surrender, it becomes easier to let go of fear, and vice versa. If you’re someone who’s always trying to control every detail and force things to happen your way, this episode is for you.

Do you ever find yourself fighting so hard to make things happen, only to realize it shouldn’t be this hard? 😣 I remember a few years ago, we were trying to buy our first investment property here in North Carolina. I was obsessed with this one log cabin. We put in an offer, but the owner wouldn’t budge on the price. I tried everything, even writing him a heartfelt letter, but nothing worked. 💌 It wasn’t until I decided to let go and trust that the right house would come along that things started to shift.

About two weeks later, we found two perfect log cabins. 🏡 We put in an offer, and it was accepted as is, totally furnished. It was so easy and seamless, which was a stark contrast to the struggle with the first cabin. When you let go of control and surrender to what is, life can surprise you in the best ways. ✨

So, what are you fighting in your life right now? What fears are holding you back? It could be money, relationships, health—anything. Fighting these fears only takes away your peace of mind. Surrendering doesn’t mean giving up; it means accepting what is. 🧘‍♀️ It’s about understanding that you can’t control everything and being at peace with that.

Next time you feel the urge to control every detail, take a step back. Accept what is, take a deep breath, and let go. 🌿 Remember, everything by my divine right comes to me today in perfect order. Focus on what you can control and let the rest unfold naturally.

  • 098: Tips to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
    Jul 8 2024

In today's Do Life Big Podcast episode, we're tackling a big one: how to stop playing the comparison game.

You know the drill – we all fall into this trap, especially with social media constantly in our faces. But here's the kicker: comparison is the thief of joy.

We’ve all been there, scrolling through Instagram and suddenly feeling less than because someone else's life looks perfect. But remember, it's just a highlight reel, not the full story. I shared a personal story about seeing these picture-perfect moments online and thinking, "Who has the time for this?" 🤔

It’s important to keep in mind that what we see isn't always reality.

Tony Robbins said it best: your life’s quality depends on three decisions you make every second of every day: what you focus on, what it means, and what you're going to do about it.

So let’s dive into some conscious steps to break free from comparison:

1️⃣ Act the way you want to feel: Even if it feels forced, faking it till you make it can help rewire your brain. 🌟
2️⃣ Get to work: Comparison often means you're not focusing on your own tasks. Head down, hustle up! 💪
3️⃣ Identify triggers: Ask yourself what specifically made you feel jealous. There’s usually something deeper to address.🕵️‍♀️
4️⃣ Measure progress by how far you've come: Instead of focusing on where you think you should be, celebrate the distance you've already covered. 🎉

Remember, comparison only hinders your growth. Let’s shift our energy towards creating a life filled with abundance and joy!

  • 097: Tips to Overcome People Pleasing
    Jul 1 2024

You know, I’ve been in this weird phase of overthinking and overanalyzing everything. It started about five years ago when my dad almost died from AML, and more recently, knowing several people my age who've passed away from illnesses or cancer. It’s made me rethink a lot about life and how I’ve spent so much of it trying to please others.

Growing up, I always tried to please everyone around me. This has been especially challenging over the last decade, but I’ve put so much effort into overcoming it. Even though I like to call myself a recovering people pleaser, those tendencies still creep up sometimes.

People-pleasing is wired into us, partly due to societal norms. For girls, it's about being polite and looking your best. For guys, it's about being tough and not showing sensitivity. These ingrained beliefs shape our behavior and our need to be accepted and liked by others.

The thing is, people-pleasing isn't just about wanting everyone to like you. It’s about feeling the need to act a certain way to feel safe. And that’s exhausting. So, today, I want to share some tips to help you overcome this. Here are six tips to work through people-pleasing:

    • Get a therapist or counselor to talk to. 🧠 Smart people have a therapist, and it’s a great starting point.
    • Become aware of when you're prioritizing others' needs over your own. 🧘‍♂️ Just recognizing this behavior is a huge step forward.
    • Practice saying “no” without guilt. 🚫 This was a hard one for me, but it’s crucial to set boundaries and not feel bad about it.
    • Do something that fills your cup and makes you happy. 🌟 Whether it’s a hobby or self-care, reinforcing your own needs is important.
    • Practice speaking up with confidence. 📢 It might be uncomfortable at first, but the more you do it, the easier it gets.
    • Challenge any negative thoughts or beliefs. 🌈 You can download my free workbook, Think This, Not That, at kathireuter.com/thinkthisnotthat to help rewire your brain and replace negative thoughts with positive ones.
