E10 BTK: The Secret life of Dennis Radar

  • Resumen

  • In October 1974, the days go by just like any other for the Wichita Eagle Newspaper Staff. They receive 100’s letters and phone call every day with information that could lead to the next biggest scoop. Early that same year on the 15th of January 1974, the community was rocked to its core by the horrific murders of the Otero family. 4 members killed for no apparent reason and currently, there was three men in custody. But now the staff members of the Wichita Eagle receive a phone call informing them that inside the Wichita Public Library is a textbook and hidden inside that textbook is a letter. This letter writer claimed that the men in custody are falsely accused, and he is the real killer of the Oteros.

    Quote,

"Those three dudes you have in custody are just talking to get publicity for the Otero murders, they know nothing at all. I did it by myself and with no one’s help. There has been no talk either. Let's put this straight."

The letter had many spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and seems to be using words even the writer doesn’t understand in an attempt to sound smart and ordinally sounding like the rambles of another attention seeker, but the letter goes on to, in graphic gory detail provide information only the killer would know. Afterwards, he continues.

“I’m sorry this happen to the society...It hard to control myself. You probably call me 'psychotic with sexual perversion hang-up.' Where this monster enter my brain I will never know. But, it here to stay. How does one cure himself? If you ask for help, that you have killed four people, they will laugh or hit the panic button and call the cops”.

Although, the letter writer does seem to be struggling with their urges and inability to stop, he goes on to taunt the police by saying “I can’t stop it so, the monster goes on, and hurt me as wall as society. Maybe you can stop him. I can’t. Good luck hunting,”

The reason for the letter is clear. The killer wants notoriety for the killings, a catch me if you can, and he even gives himself a name that would stick and also warns that he will kill again, ending the letter with. "P.S. Since sex criminals do not change their M.O. or by nature cannot do so, I will not change mine. The code word for me will be… Bind them, torture them, kill them, B.T.K., you see he's at it again,"

Yes, this the cases of one of the world’s most infamous serial killers, Dennis Radar, BTK.
