This is exactly what I experienced when I went to my first in-person networking event for the first time in 3 years where I realized that there’s this weird “gap” between the way we present ourselves online vs. offline. This gap can cause tricky problems when you’re trying to build trust with people, only to have that weird hiccup when people feel like they need to get to know you all over again the moment you start interacting face to face.
