Trooper Cecil Newton served as a gunner and loader with the British 4/7 Royal Dragoon Guards, an armoured regiment of the 8th Armoured Brigade attached to the British 50th Infantry Division and later the Guards Armoured Division. He landed in Normandy on D-Day in an amphibious Sherman Duplex-Drive (DD) Tank five minutes prior to the infantry in order to give fire-support to the assault wave. He then battled through Normandy and Belgium until he was wounded in Holland. This episode is Part III of Cecil’s story and covers Belgium and Holland in 1944 plus he revisits Cristot in Normandy.
