  • Hi there, my name is Javier Luque from the International Press Institute, and this is the first episode of Decoding Disinformation. This is not just another podcast series about exposing disinformation campaigns, which, yes, will do as well - especially those targeting journalists and news outlets.

    No, this series is also about how a group of journalists are investigating the strategies used by populists and extremist groups to divert attention from facts, create noise and, ultimately, generate uncertainty.

    In this first episode, I tried to understand the big picture. So, to start with, I wanted to know more about the role that disinformation plays in geopolitics, especially in Europe, given the rise of populism in the last decade. I talked to Carme Colomina to get some sense from it all.
