  • After 1947, India was recovering from the aftermath of British rule, which drained the country’s financial wealth, along with involving India in two World Wars. To make matters worse, with the country also in the midst of partition - India was thrown deeper into economic, social, and political turmoil. In the eyes of the British, India was doomed to fail.
