Almost Unbearable Slant
I'm a few episodes into this, and as a former journalism student, I find the bias here almost unbearable. It's a fascinating subject, but this series is clearly sympathetic to Cain, and as much as it claims it won't, it heavily presumes the guilt of the alleged sex offender. The first episode is comprised entirely of Cain's buddies standing up for him. I'm an MMA fan, but the opinions of the sports' athletes tends to be an echo chamber of idiocy. No one thus far has taken the position that it's extremely bad and indefensible to chase someone down and shoot into their car on a crowded city street. I assume that position will be taken by someone at some point, but it'll come far too late.
The prosecutor lady who is the co-host is unlistenable. Tell me more about how Georgia's justice system is leaps and bounds above California's, please. I'm really all ears on that one. She's got a bone to pick with bail reform, and the show the does nothing to counter her points. Nobody ever bothers to get the judge's opinion on why he released the alleged abuser with an ankle monitor before trial. Nobody even cares to seriously speculate on his reasoning.
California has had it's share of unfortunate child abuse scandals that turned out to be bogus (see the infamous McMartin trial), but nobody ever questions the validity of the charges leveled here? Really? it may turn out the accusations are completely true, but everyone involved with this production seems to assume they are. I'm a father of two. I get the fury. But it's a journalist's job to ignore those feelings and present facts.
