  • Resumen

  • In this episode of The Catholic Bookworm, Kiki Latimer interviews Julie "Jules" Howe, a California screenwriter, producer and children’s book author whose screenplay, Jasper Milliken, won the comedy category at the Austin Film Festival in 2010. Since then, Jules' screenplays have placed in top-ranking film festivals and screenplay competitions such as BlueCat, Nicholl Fellowship, Page International and Fresh Voices.

Her first children’s book and Hoffer Award winner, Catty Wompus: A Tale of Friendship, is about a lonely girl who learns the true value of friends. It’s based on a childhood experience that never left her. The sequel, Catty Wompus and The New Kid, takes the lessons learned, one step further. In 2015, Catty and her pals were brought to life in a quirky, live-action musical television pilot called The Adventures of Catty Wompus that promotes kindness, friendship and environmental stewardship.

In 2017, Julie wrote and co-produced the feature film, Cupid’s Proxy , distributed by Freestyle Digital Media and available on Amazon, Vudu and Apple TV.

In 2018, Julie, along with 9 other colleagues, was awarded a New York Emmy for co-producing the award winning documentary Miracle on 42nd Street, the story of Manhattan Plaza, the renowned experiment in subsidized housing catering to people in the arts. It is currently available on Amazon and other streaming platforms.
