Evisceradio - E14: Samuel Dufour (Phobocosm)

  • Resumen

  • Music at 4am. No sleep, the brain is wired. Nothing makes sense. Finding a way to try to sink back into much needed REM, one may turn to music as a way to slip back into slumber. If this sounds like a familiar tactic, then it's likely you have a go-to list of bands that help you on your path. If this is you, then you need Phobocosm. Quebecs's answer to atmosphere and metal, this music is a stunning example of what a soundscape is. Compositionally strong music is what I typically lean towards, and while Phobocosm has that in spades, it's their unique brand of darkness that is what really makes them stand out from the pack. Not just any common death influenced atmo-metal that you can find anywhere mind you, I'm talking about a band that carefully crafts an auditory sensation which distorts the senses: riff, time signature, and even music itself means something different with this act. I consider them to be a part of a small group of bands that not only paint pictures, take you to places, but bridge gaps between what you hear and what you imagine. Nothing else out there gives me visuals like Phobocosm does... Much like sleep deprivation. Which is also a track of theirs that you should most definitely check out.
