How many of you have traversed the unfriendly seas of self-publishing a book? I know I have. Being a published author is awesome! It gives you authority, credibility, etc. It can also give you some extra income, and in some cases – great income!

But it can also become a nightmare…

Book publishing used to be simple, but not anymore. Authors browsing the internet are unaware that a publisher is unnecessary and that hiring one can significantly reduce their income from book sales. Too many authors become victims of unscrupulous companies that abuse their trust, and some of the worst offenders are "Christian" publishing companies that deliberately target people of faith.

Just remember the warning Jesus gave us, “Beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing.” Amen!

That is the reason for our interview today with a woman who is out to change that narrative and actually HELP authors – Christian authors – to navigate those dangerous seas and arrive safely at the ultimate destination of having your own book, self-published, and maximize your earnings potential at the same time.

First question I always start with is this… other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Michele DeFilippo?

What does the “1106” stand for?

You’ve been doing this kind of work a long time. How has publishing changed over the years?

When I published my “Marriage Ceremony Handbook” eight or more years ago, I searched on Google, etc. and was just overwhelmed at the number of self-publishing companies available back then… it must be even worse today, correct?

Your company kind of “fills the gap” between independent publishing and full service publishers, correct?

You use an example of Print on Demand and Self-Publishing – that references needing a medical procedure done and going to the library and checking out medical text book… can you share that example with us?

Can you share with us a little bit about the process you take prospective clients through when they work with you?

What is the number one mistake you see new authors make when it comes to getting their book published?

What about editing? To me, it was fairly easy to get the original manuscript finished… then it took me another year to edit it where I finally said, “Enough already” and hit print. Does your company offer help in editing?

Explain the “Full Service Project Management Team.” What is that, how does it work?

Let’s move into marketing… We have the book written… we now have it edited and ready to...

Our guest today had it all. He was a successful businessman. He had a good income, great family and was living the lifestyle most wanted to aspire to. But then… I’ll leave it there and allow him to share the “but then” story.

Help me welcome to the program, Guy Gane. Guy, it is a blessing to have you on the program today. I have been looking forward to this interview for some time. Praise God!

First question I always start with is this… and I would like you to share your story as part of answering this question, as I believe it will help our listeners understand how your experience has brought you to this point in your life. Can you share with us, “Who is Guy Gane?”

You faced something that most people cannot even relate to. When you are speaking to an audience, or to your those reading your book, how do you bring your audience to the point of understanding the adversity they have experienced in their life as something that God may have meant for good?

I can attest to something similar. I’ve shared this with our audience before so I won’t go into all the details again. But from the time I was 14 or 15 years old, all I wanted to do was make the military my career. I went to Basic Training just 10 days after graduation and had a great career. I had worked my way through the enlisted ranks and then decided to become an officer. Three years after commissioning, the Army decided they had “too many officers.” I was called into our commanders office and was told Department of the Army had terminate my commission and I was to start out processing.

No back up plan. No time to plan for what I was going to do… just two weeks to “out process” my dream career. I struggled for over ten years just to be able to share what I did with you right now. It was that impactful on me, personally. Which also impacted my family, etc. At one point I was going to commit suicide as well. And it was a direct intervention by God which saved me. I’ve gone into the details before, so I won’t do it now. But I can relate to what you shared…

How did all of this impact your family as we were going through the investigation, the trial and then the prison sentence?

Why did you write this book, “Chrysalis: Awakening to God's Path, Protection and Power in Your Life?”

Why did you choose the word, “Chrysalis?” and explain what that word means…

Who is the intended audience for this book? I believe everyone will receive insight and understanding from the book, but who did you have in mind when you wrote
