Family Physicians in Rural America

  • Resumen

  • Dr. Levi Harris began his journey into medicine in southwest Missouri with an early exposure to the field while working in a local veterinary clinic. This experience planted the seeds for his future career of caring for people as a medical doctor as he witnessed firsthand the impact of health care in a community setting. Levi's formative years were shaped by the values and work ethic inherent to rural life, which would later influence his approach to medicine. His academic pursuits led him to Missouri State University for his undergraduate studies where the decision to embrace a career in medicine became clear. His passion for helping others and his fascination with the human body's complexities fueled his ambition. It was during this time that Levi decided to become a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), a path that emphasizes a holistic approach to patient care.

During this episode, Levi shares the rigorous and rewarding experiences of medical school, which prepared him for his next chapter in the Bothwell-University of Missouri Rural Family Medicine Residency. Tune in to hear more about what it’s like being a family doctor in rural America.
