Welcome to Fantasy Explorations, a little corner of the internet where fantasy is the cornerstone!

In today’s episode, I will share my reading journey through Shadowmarch by Tad Williams. I am hoping to inspire you to read the book, if you have not read it yet, ideally with the spoiler free part of the episode; and reminiscence of the book with me, in the spoiler part of the episode!

  • Mages, wizards and witches
    Jul 5 2024

In this episode we will dive, for the first but not last time, into the magical world of mages, wizards and witches.
There are a five entries, mostly books but not exclusively, and I found myself enthralled while preparing this selection of candidates for your attention!

The selection this time starts with the classic of the classics with The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, followed by The Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson (and I start wondering if I will be able to include this series in every single episode!), continuing with The Heartstrikers series by Rachel Aaron, and with The First Law World by Joe Abercrombie, finishing with the one and only The Scarlet Witch!

  • The Will of the Many by James Islington, a reading journey
    Jun 18 2024

Welcome to Fantasy Explorations, a little corner of the internet where fantasy is the cornerstone!
In this episode, I want to share my reading journey of The Will of the Many by James Islignton, book one in the Hierarchy trilogy.
The episode is split in to sections: a spoiler free one to provide you with flavor about the story you can expect and why it is a unique story in fantasy; and a second part that is the deeper dive in the story, the characters, the plot and the choices made by the author.

  • Soldiers in fantasy stories
    Jun 18 2024

Welcome to Fantasy Explorations, a little corner of the internet where fantasy is the cornerstone!
In this episode, I want to share with you a few fantasy books and series that center around soldiers. While this is not going to be the only episode centered around this topic, I presented a few characters (and their series) that fit the bill.
The journey starts with The War of the Rose by Peter McLean, continues through The Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson and then with The Shadows of the Apt by Adrian Tchaikovsky and finishing with the Deed of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon.
