In this episode produced in collaboration with We Are Europe, Renaud guides you through the streets of Barcelona, discovering the best of Catalan scene.

Since 2010, Spain has been experiencing a musical boom driven by Barcelona and the diasporas settled in the Catalan capital. The city attracts by its artistic and libertarian magnetism. And today, this diversity nourishes the urban music. Renaud looks at the evolution of Spanish trap music and its influence. • Voicenotes from the Netherlands : afro-dutch music
    Dec 22 2021

In this episode produced in collaboration with We Are Europe, Laura invites us to celebrate the end of the year in the Netherlands, dancing on the afro-dutch music.

Afro-dutch music is the current dutch music derived from hip-hop, bubbling and moombathon in which South American, Caribbean, Sub-Saharan and North-African influences are mixed. These musics are mainly carried by the diasporas of the former colonies of the Netherlands, like Surinam or the former Dutch Antilles : Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire.

Afro-dutch music is the result of a cultural and musical mix based on electronic sounds, Caribbean rhythms and sub-Saharan influences. Everywhere in the club or in fashion shows, this scene evolves with the diversity of languages and communities of the Netherlands.

  • Voicenotes from Warsaw : political club music
    Nov 25 2021

In this episode produced in collaboration with We Are Europe, we fly to Poland to discover the political club music, where alternative music collectives are the last refuges for queer people.

Since the ultra-conservatives came to power in 2015, the demonstrations of hatred towards LGBTQI+ communities have been growing. Queer parties have become the only safe places in the country.

We met the defenders of the freedom to exist and to love. Those who make Warsaw a city of colors, of political commitment, of artistic emulation. In addition to this activism, local musicians try to give back to the Polish tradition its values of diversity, thanks to club music.
