Globally Heated

De: Globally Heated
  • Resumen

  • The planet is warming. Tempers are flaring. There is so much going on in the world that it can be hard to get past the headlines, hyperbole, and sound bytes. It can be even harder to get into the nuances, complex facts, and extraordinarily-important-yet-overlooked crunchy nougat centers of disaster, climate, social issues, and everything in between. But don’t worry! Two intrepid heroes with wildly dysfunctional origin stories are here to accompany you through the quagmire that is our world. We created Globally Heated because we want to untangle the knots that make understanding our changing world so challenging. We want to delve into the little details that so often get overlooked, and we want to share our discoveries with you! Join us on this intriguing, zany, hopefully informative journey as we all try to learn and understand a little more about our most definitely heated—but still wonderful—little blue (and kind of green?) globe.

  • Episode 009 - Mindfully Freaking Out
    Jun 30 2020

    Stress, mindfulness, eco-anxiety, oh my!

With global temperatures rising along with sea levels while our thresholds for nonsense continue to lower, it is understandable that humanity might be a little freaking stressed out right about now.

But what part does stress play in our responses to disaster and climate change? And how does the kind of hippy-dippy sounding concept of mindfulness enter into the picture?

That’s what we’re discussing this week on Globally Heated!

  • Episode 008 - Why Climate Change Is So Hard To Address...Psychologically
    Jun 23 2020

With things like melting ice caps, rising sea levels, increasing frequency and strength of natural disasters, crazy plagues, faster-melting margaritas, a blight of balminess, and above all, unseasonably warm weather, why are there so many people out there that don’t believe climate change is real?!

Well, as easy as it would be to say that corporate greed and anti-science hacks are just out for themselves, that isn’t quite the whole story.

This week we’re discussing why climate change is such a difficult topic for humans as a whole to get our minds around and take action on, specifically from a psychological perspective!
