God Knows Where

De: Brett Harris
  • Resumen

  • "God Knows Where" is a podcast for people interested in exploring their faith off the beaten path. Maybe you've quit church. Maybe you're experiencing church hurt. Maybe you just want something different than your regular Sunday mornings. Brett Harris is a recovering Baptist pastor who willingly walked away from the pulpit. Join him in exploring the teachings of Jesus and the wisdom of the Christian tradition out in the open to see where God might be leading us. The good news is, if God knows where we're headed, then we don't have to know. We simply have to be open to what (and who) is in front of us to find our way. This journey will lead us to all kinds of questions, maybe even some answers, and corners of Christianity that often get ignored. Season 1 ("I Didn't Say That") took a look at the topics Christians love to talk about, but that Jesus never mentioned. Season 2 ("You've Never Read This") is all about stories in scripture that we never read in Church because they're taboo. Join us!

Was it a coat of many colors? Was it vivid in technicolor? Who knows? All that matters is this story about Joseph and his special garment has liittle to do with who wore what and how they looked, but who they people wearing and fawning over the coat were. Let's dive in with another Very Basic Story!

We're doubling back today to a story we skipped over just after the Flood. It's that ancient, epic building tale. The Tower of Babel. It's a story that we often read as a punishment, but I read as an invitation this week. Hope you enjoy!

David and Goliath. So much has been written about these two foes that it seems strange to say more. The good news for you is, I'm not really concerned with the stars of this story but rather the men in Saul's army who do nothing and who leave a young boy to face their enemy alone. Let's take a look at them as we continue reading through these basic stories of our tradition in this latest series, VBS.

What a thoughtful, beautiful take on Jesus!

I have been listening to God Knows Where since just after its launch and look forward to new episodes every week. Each time I learn something new and am challenges to think in new ways about Jesus and my faith. Plus, they’re only 10-15 minutes long….just right for a drive to work!
