Healthy Intersections

De: Healthy Intersections
  • Resumen

  • TL;DR? Healthy Intersections focuses on the intersection of medical care and public health. Our academic, non-profit, volunteer-run blog is sponsored by the peer-reviewed journal Medical Care and the Medical Care Section of the American Public Health Association. We are a project of the same editorial team as The Medical Care Blog (since 2014). Our listeners, viewers, readers, and contributors care about clinical care, the healthcare system, and the health policies and public health issues that intersect with these areas.

We are now recording in video format! Check out the new videos on our website, The Medical Care Blog. And don't forget to subscribe!

  • Episode 15: Healthy Intersections Podcast: Alzheimer's Disease & Related Dementias
    Jun 20 2024

June is Alzheimer's Awareness Month. To recognize the importance of brain health, we hosted a round-table discussion between Dr. Lisa Lines, principal investigator for the RTI Rarity project (RTIRarity.io); Chloe McGlynn, a research public health analyst at RTI; Dr. Vicki Johnson-Lawrence, social epidemiologist and community-based participatory researcher at RTI; and Dr. Jazmyne McNeese, an expert on race, wealth, and business ownership and senior data analyst at PolicyMap (PolicyMap.com). We discuss disparities in the prevalence of Alzheimer's Disease & Related Dementias, or ADRD, and explore some of the top modifiable risk factors for ADRD. We share ideas for improving access to care for people with ADRD and show how prevalence, and some of the top predictors, are distributed across the US.
