  • A Pod of Their Own, Episode 207: Bullpen distress and All-Star mess
    Jul 9 2024
Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. This week, we begin by discussing the Mets’ mediocre July play, mostly due to the inadequacies of the bullpen. We also speculate on whether the Mets may buy or sell at the trading deadline and potential trade targets. Next, we talk about Francisco Lindor and Brandon Nimmo being snubbed in the All-Star selections. We are very excited that Pete Alonso is in the Home Run Derby, but very much not excited that Marcell Ozuna is also in the Home Run Derby. We also shout out the first all-female broadcast team in Cubs history and the hiring of Catie Griggs and the new head of Orioles business operations. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise. • From Complex To Queens, Episode 279: Final pre-draft update
    Jul 8 2024
Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. We keep this week’s discussion of non-baseball sports more brief this week, quickly touching on the Euro Cup for PET (go England). After that, we quickly move into our final pre-draft discussion. Only one updated mock draft, but Thomas, Lukas, and Steve (via recording) discuss some potential targets for the 2nd and 3rd round. After that, it’s performers of the week time. Ryan Clifford had a huge week and has been incredible at Double-A so far. He now looks like a worthy heir apparent to Pete Alonso at first base. Fittingly, Alonso’s All Star selection comes out mid-conversation, leading to some griping. Finally, we touch on Tyler Stuart, Mike Vasil, and Jonah Tong’s strong performance from this past week. As always, you can listen or subscribe to all of our Home Run Applesauce podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. It really helps! • Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World Series, Episode 165: Bullpen Blues
    Jul 6 2024
Welcome to Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World Series, the new/old favorite from Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore. The Mets had a rougher week than we've been accustomed to over the last month, but there's no reason to panic. Well, except for the bullpen. There may be some legitimately needed panic there. And Jeff McNeil. But really, things are fine!
