  • Recorded on August 22, 2024, at Belmont's Clear Springs, this is the sound of a late summer morning in the cypress swamp. You'll hear gentle breezes stirring the stand of Water Tupelo (wild olive) as the fruit ripens to a deep purple and leaves turn yellow before drifting to rest on the forest floor. The last of the summer cicadas buzz as the Hooded Warbler sings its melodious weeta-weeta-weet-tee-o in the dense understory of royal fern, Virginia sweetspire and marsh St. John's wort.
