I'm your host Alexia Raucci (00:08): [inaudible]. (00:09): Hey everyone. Welcome back to the sunshine podcast from the title, channeling your joy for the revolution, the inner and outer work. You can see that we are deviating from the college mess to mindfulness series for this week, because we have much more important things to discuss. As you know, we are in the midst of a revolution and lots of changes happening. And what I want you to know is that you can be joyful and you can use your joy as a powerful tool in this movement. It is what will replenish you and give you the energy necessary to show up compassionately during this time, if you remember the very first episode of the podcast, you'll know that emotions carry an energetic frequency, and we operate at our fullest potential when we are experiencing and deliberately seeking those elevated emotions, such as joy, love, gratitude, and compassion. (00:57): And so when you are tending to your inner world and striving to embody a higher frequency, you become a magnet for opportunities, abundance, and aligned action. And I know right now, a lot of heavy and uncomfortable feelings are rising to the surface. And that's what happens when your perceived reality and belief systems are being questioned and breaking down. And that's also what happens when you are awakening to a higher state of consciousness. It's natural for your spirit to want to purge all the attachments and inner shadows that are beneficial to you or the world. This is so you can emerge into a new state of consciousness. So right now it's important to bring forth these heavy emotions with compassion. So you can address them openly with no judgment. I think I can speak for all of us. When I say that we want change. We want justice. (01:44): We want harmony, and we want eventual peace on this planet. But to get there, we have to be aware of the collective consciousness of the world around us and hear what the world is calling us to notice and show up for. And by showing up, I also mean being present with yourself alongside the revolution. It is crucial that we balance our inner and outer world, especially if either world feels off balance right now. So I want to share with you how to handle any emotion you may be feeling so that you can achieve inner harmony while also being present in the movement. (02:16): So to organize this conversation effectively, I want to split this up and address two very general groups that non-black folks fall into at this time. And I find that everyone can relate to aspects of either group. There's no need to identify with one or the other. I just want to acknowledge the different emotions that can arise with each one. So first there are those who have not been fully aware about systematic racism within our world and how it has showed up in both wide-scale and nuanced ways in our society. And then there are those who have been aware, but haven't fully invested in taking as much initiative as the world is calling for right now. So I want to touch base with the first group. I'm your host, Alexia Raucci Hey everyone. Welcome back to the podcast. I hope you're having a lovely day. Today's episode is a special one. It's called college mess to mindfulness, part one navigating hookup culture, social anxiety and self worth. (00:23): Now, this series will be divided into three parts. The best way to describe it is that it's a tale of heartbreak, tenderness, self-love, and the emergence into a new way of living. The series is very exciting for me because it outlines my mindfulness journey and gives you an inside look on how I call debated the routines and mindset practices that have helped elevate me to the intentional lifestyle that I'm living now, and this episode specifically focuses on the experience that pushed me to discover mindfulness and start on the path of healing and by the title you already have a hint of what it's going to be about. You're definitely going to get some juicy details, but there's a little twist in this episode because I will be telling you through two different lenses. The first one being an honest portrayal of how I felt and reacted at the time. (01:13): And the second one is how my current self would behave if put in the same situation. So we've got some past and current self duo going on, which means there will be particular moments where I stopped the story to reflect on how I could have taken a more meaningful mindful approach. So this is both a way for me to take hold of the narrative and see it through a different perspective. And it's also a chance to show you guys a clear difference and change in my mentality. So let's get started. Everyone grabs some tea, grab some popcorn, get comfy because this is going to be a long wild ride and we are about to time travel back to my past. So the mission starts in three two one (02:02): It all begins August, 2018 my freshman year of college I was excited and thriving off the energy of summer, ready to put myself out there and meet new people. And by that point classes just started and I was on my third or fourth day trying to perfectly organize my tiny little dorm room when my suite mate came in with some exciting news and it was that there were some boys in the hall lounge. I know, right. That was the exciting news and she met them and she was wondering if I wanted to meet them too. So of course I said yes I was ready to get out of my room and meet new people. So I followed her down to the hall lounge and there were four guys sitting at the table there and there are only going to be two at the forefront of the story so their code names are Ethan and Troy got to remember those because they are going to be coming up a lot in the story one more so than the other. (02:57): And then we all introduced ourselves and I sat down at the table next to them to do my homework. And then randomly at one point the four of them just started singing like a word or a phrase in unison. And I got really excited because I love singing and music and I thought it could be something we could all connect on. So we got on the topic of music and I was really excited because I learned that Ethan and Troy are really involved in it and they both sing and play piano and Troy can also play the ukulele. So we ended up having a mini jam session where Ethan and I would sing and then Troy would play the uke and harmonize dwith us. And we did that for a solid hour I think. And then we parted ways to just, you know, take a break. (03:43): And then we plan to meet up again at around 9:00 PM so nine o'clock rolls...

Thank you for joining me on the very first episode of how to walk on sunshine, a podcast where I can teach you how to reconnect with your inner joy and creative power. I'm your host, Alexia Raucci and today's episode is called the main quest, embracing the sun self. And I want to start off by saying that it is my primary intent for you to find peace and joy in your life, to bring in abundance and connect with yourself so deeply that you truly enjoy living. And I'm sure you want that too, which is why you're probably listening and which is why I made this podcast. So you can take away the tips and the metaphors and the stories I share and integrate them in your life. And it is my hope that my words will expand beyond the timeframe of each episode and truly help you in some way. (00:56): And I want to remind you that you already have everything you need within yourself to access your true, joyful nature. I'm simply here just to help you along the way and I like to think about it like this. You're the main character in a video game. And I'm the guide. I just show up whenever you need a hint or you're stuck and you just need to get through to the next level. You have all the tools. I'm just reminding you how to use them effectively. And I kinda like to think of life as if it's a huge video game except there is no winning or big boss defeat. And all we have to do is just have fun. Go on a quest to enjoy ourselves, grow, discover the things that excite us and enrich our experience. You know, there are so many treasures that are hidden within the depths of the game in our life and we've already discovered a bunch of them. (01:46): But now this is our opportunity to further explore ourselves and the world so we can find even more treasures to enjoy. And we play video games to relax, right? To play in a world that is full of infinite possibilities. And what if I told you that life can be exactly like that if you let it be. And that is a key to all of this. If you let it be, you see there's no pressure to live. Think about how funny it is to say that we feel pressure to live and if we do feel pressure, it's pressure that we have made up and unfairly placed on ourselves and in order to live with freedom and joy it is best to release that pressure and replace it with lightness. So to do so I invite you to ask yourself the following question every day. Wouldn't it be nice if I had fun today and found moments of lightness in everything I do. (02:40): And I love this phrase because it's open, it has room for opportunity and it allows you to step into joy, to choose joy if you want. And that leads me into today's quest which is embracing the sun self and I needed the main quest because it truly summarizes the essential takeaway of this podcast, which is about discovering ways of connecting to the sun self. And I will be discussing with the sun self actually is how to embrace it and how doing so will allow more abundance into your life. So the sun self is a term I made up to essentially describe your true self, your higher self, your inner child, all these terms, I mean the same thing. Someone who is operating at the frequency of joy and you may be wondering why I say frequency while make sure you're listening intently to this next part because it is the foundation of everything I will be talking about in this podcast.
