This race is a nice refresher from all the normal road and trail races out there. If you're looking for something a little different, this is the race! Strip back all the commercial hoopla and fancy timing and take it back to just a stop watch for time and someone at the finish calling out your time for you. Also, the course is one to challenge the toughest most experienced runners. You need to put this one on your list of trail marathons to try.

It's time to talk about our trip out to Western States Endurance Run. We'll dive into a little more detail about the race, crewing, our setup as a crew and more. This is a race that is near and dear to our hearts and one I'd highly recommend if you enjoy the sport of ultra running. You don't have to run it to enjoy this race either. This week we ran a wonderful local race called the T-Rex 10 Miler and it was SO much fun. This race is old school and no frills but has tons of fun and plenty of swag. If you are in the West Michigan area on July 4th we would highly recommend this event. If 10 miles is too much you can run "The Wimpy" 6k race. So there is fun for everyone.

We also talk about a little about Western States and the lead in days to the race. Talk about amazing! Love this race and this is one you can go and enjoy even if you don't have an entry. Go volunteer and cheer and take in all that is Western States Endurance Run.

Being one of the oldest 100 mile foot races in the world, the Western States 100 is very special. It has a lot of history starting in 1974. The race is now iconic for many reasons. What you get to experience while running or crewing the race is something you will not soon forget. Because it is so special, there are some hoops you need to jump through to get in. Let's just take a minute and strip it all back. Why do I need so many things to run? It shouldn't be this hard? Wait, I forgot this. I need two footpods to track this. My heart rate strap needs to be adjusted. All of these things and more are reasons to take a step back and evaluate where you are and what you actually need for your next run.
