  • Design and Build a Custom Wood Drawer Pull
    Jul 28 2024
In today’s episode, I’m making wooden drawer pulls for a custom writing desk in a James Krenov style. They are made from ambrosia maple and attached to the walnut posts and then to the drawer fronts. This writing desk was built for a Denver, Colorado, client. To build the drawer pulls, I will drill holes in the walnut posts to attach the maple, so I am using a wrench to help me gauge the size. When the wrench slips over the workpiece, I will know to stop, and we will be at the correct size. Then, once I am down to the correct size for the ends to go into the walnut, I start turning the pull shape between them. I am adding a little bulge to the center to add visual interest and more meat to grab onto. The walnut posts were rounded over to create a warm look, and the parts were assembled.
