  • Heart In Sync: A-fib and Lifestyle Links
    Feb 14 2024

Patients often wonder what triggers initial onset and subsequent episodes of AF, and evidence increasingly supports the importance of lifestyle and risk factor modification for primary and secondary prevention of atrial fibrillation. We will discuss the current evidence related to common patient-reported triggers, as well as the latest evidence-based guidelines related to risk factor modification for prevention of AF onset, slowing of AF progression, and improved AF-related outcomes.

  • When Medication is Not Tolerated or Not Enough: Interventional and Surgical Approaches to Atrial Fibrillation
    Feb 14 2024

We aim to provide guidance by exploring interventional approaches to the management of atrial fibrillation and mitigation of thromboembolic risk. We will provide a review of interventional approaches including AF ablation for the management of atrial fibrillation and briefly discuss left atrial occlusion devices. Additionally, surgical techniques will be described in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Lastly, incidence, risk factors and management of post-operative AF will be discussed.

  • Breaking the Clot Code: A Deep Dive into Anticoagulation in Non-valvular Atrial Fibrillation
    Feb 13 2024

In this podcast we aim to highlight and discuss the updated evidence regarding stroke prevention in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF), we will explore the indications for starting anticoagulation upon diagnosis of NVAF, as well as evidence of stopping and restarting anticoagulation for procedures, additionally, we will discuss the available data regarding the initiation of anticoagulation after both an ischemic and a hemorrhagic stroke.
