Intergenerational Caregiving

  • Resumen

  • The phenomenon of grandparents raising grandchildren is not new. It has been on-going for centuries. In this fast-paced world, the grandparents raising grandchildren can take on new meanings and forms. Our guest, the author of the book The Sacred Work of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, will help us explore the unique joys and challenges of this process in the modern world in which we live. The question, of course, remains as to how the care needs of the grandparents get addressed as they change due to the aging process. Elaine K. Williams, LMSW, will assist us in learning more about how this works within families that have different ways of raising children, caring for older adults and weaving through the aging processes of each generation simultaneously.
