The Waco siege, also known as the Waco massacre, was the siege by U.S. federal government and Texas state law enforcement officials of a compound belonging to the religious cult known as the Branch Davidians between February 28 and April 19, 1993.

The Branch Davidians, led by David Koresh, were headquartered at Mount Carmel Center ranch in unincorporated McLennan County, Texas, 13 miles (21 kilometers) northeast of Waco.

Suspecting the group of stockpiling illegal weapons, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) obtained a search warrant for the compound and arrest warrants for Koresh and several of the group's members.

Johann "Jack" Unterweger was an Austrian serial killer who committed murder in several countries – Austria, West Germany, Czechoslovakia, and the United States.

Initially convicted in 1974 of a single murder, Unterweger began to write extensively while in prison.

His work gained the attention of the Austrian literary elite, who took it as evidence that he had been rehabilitated.

After significant lobbying, Unterweger was released on parole in 1990.

Upon his release, he became a minor celebrity and worked as a playwright and journalist, but within months he resumed killing women.

Unterweger hanged himself in prison after being convicted of nine more murders in June 1994.

The "My Way" killings was a social phenomenon in the Philippines, referring to a number of fatal disputes which arose from the singing of the song "My Way", popularized by Frank Sinatra, in karaoke bars (more commonly known as "videoke" in the Philippines).

A New York Times article estimated the number of killings to be at least six as of 2010. Between 2002 and 2012, numerous people were killed for singing this song.

Mary McCarthy, known as Moll Carthy, was a smallholder, prostitute, and murder victim from Marlhill, near New Inn, County Tipperary in Ireland.

Henry "Harry" Gleeson from Holycross, County Tipperary, was convicted of her murder and executed, but granted a posthumous pardon in 2015.

Lonnie David Franklin Jr. (August 30, 1952 – March 28, 2020), better known by the nickname Grim Sleeper, was an American serial killer who was responsible for at least ten murders and one attempted murder in Los Angeles, California from 1984 to 2007. He was also convicted for rape and sexual violence. Franklin earned his nickname when he appeared to have taken a 14-year break from his crimes, from 1988 to 2002.

In July 2010, Franklin was arrested as a suspect, and, after many delays, his trial began in February 2016. On May 5, 2016, the jury convicted him of killing nine women and one teenage girl. On June 6, 2016, the jury recommended the death penalty and on August 10, 2016, the Los Angeles Superior Court sentenced him to death for each of the ten victims named in the verdict. On March 28, 2020, Franklin was found dead in his cell at San Quentin State Prison.

The Slenderman is a fictional supernatural character that originated as a creepypasta Internet meme created by Something Awful forum user Eric Knudsen (also known as "Victor Surge") in 2009.

He is depicted as a thin, unnaturally tall humanoid with a featureless white head and face, wearing a black suit

Beginning in 2014, a moral panic occurred over the Slender Man after readers of his fiction were connected to several violent acts, particularly a near-fatal stabbing of a 12-year-old girl in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

The stabbing inspired the documentary Beware the Slenderman, which was released in 2016.
