Joe Escalante's weekly plunge into the deadly waters of the business end of showbiz. This week... the latest from the box office (Deadpool/Wolverine is living up to the "biggest blockbuster of the Summer hype). Also, Joe is enamored with "Twisters," especially after it pissed off climate change activists. It speaks to a bigger problem Joe has with movies nowadays: he's tired of being preached to. And a "Facts of Life" reunion got squashed by "a greedy co-star" from the show... Joe and Sam think it's Blair...

  • Fly Me to Another Movie
    Jul 21 2024
Joe Escalante's weekly visit to the business end of showbiz... This week: Joe's back in town!! He's still jet lagged from jet-setting across the world, but he's back to talk about Tenacious D's apology for unfortunate comments made at Kyle Gass' birthday show in Australia (too soon, maybe?). Also, the latest from the box office... Joe really did not enjoy "Fly me to the Moon"... after how many frequent flyer miles he's gathered in the last month, I don't think he'd enjoy anything about flying... And Joe and producer Nikki go crazy over their early pick for the Oscar for movie of the year, "Kneecap."

Please, let us all bathe in the glory of the "Hock Tuah" girl getting a manager. She may just be the reincarnation of the Iron Sheik, and I, for one, am all for it.

  • Remember the Alamo!
    Jun 23 2024
Joe Escalante's weekly journey into the business end of showbiz. This week: Inside Out 2 dominates the box office, Army Hammer is not, I REPEAT, NOT a cannibal, and Sony bought out all of the Alamo Drafthouses. Will this spark a trend of film companies buying out more theaters? Will streamers, looking to screen their films and make them Oscar-eligible, follow suit?

    Joe knows.
