  • book review: the fault in our stars
    Jul 7 2024

ah, yes, ✨the fault in our stars✨... quite literally one of the best books in existence. the book and the movie have won some (and by some, I mean many) awards. I love, love, love this book endlessly and have read it as many times as I've read moon rising (for those of my listeners who have been here a long while, you know ive read moon rising a LOT- and a lot is putting it lightly...), so I decided to review it on the podcast because it's a book that NEEDS to be shared. however, this book also focuses on some topics including death, cancer, loss of a loved one, and (in the book) frequent cussing (though this episode is not explicit). if those are uncomfortable for you to hear, I suggest holding off listening to this episode until you feel ready or listening with someone who understands why you feel uncomfortable listening to these kind of topics for moral support. also, there are some scenes in the book that aren't exactly easy to read- so for my younger listeners, you may want to wait until reading this or have someone who's older than you read it first just to make sure it's "safe."

by the way, some of the segments in this episode took me many, many, many tries to record, so I would greatly appreciate if you listened to it. no pressure, though, if you don't want to listen to me rambling about hazel grace and her splendiferousness (that's not a word, I know, I made it up), then that's completely fine.

oh, and of course, we can't let this be an episode without a question of the day! what is a book you have always wanted to read? for me, this would have to be the divergent trilogy, because I heard that they're great dystopian books! hopefully I can pick it up sometime soon and review it. :)

I don't normally do this, but since I've been loving this song lately, here's a song recommendation of the day- all my love by noah kahan has been stuck in my head for the past couple days... and I love it! if you could take a couple minutes out of your day and tell me what you think of it, that'd be awesome.

    have a great day!

  • reacting to "the secret of us" || gracie abrams' new album
    Jul 4 2024

those of you that missed my little brother moonpaw, he's back (as duck or ducky) now! duck makes some guest apperances in this episode from time to time, singing blink-182... and gives me the biggest side-eyes you've ever seen, except you can't see them. by the way, there maaay be an episode with duck coming soon! 🙃

I am very well aware that I'm late to listening to gracie's new album, the secret of us... but after seeing it at target at hearing that she did a song with my beloved second mother t-swizzle (otherwise known as taylor swift... but calling her "my beloved second mother t-swizzle" is just better). so i thought, why not react to it on the podcast? the only time I've heard a gracie abrams song was when she appeared on everywhere, everything with noah kahan, so why not listen to her new album and see if I actually enjoy her music? this will be similar to my 1989 tv episode, and if you liked that you'll probably like this? :)

my gracie fans, where you at? if you like her music, tell me in the comments, and if you're a fan, what's your favorite song from her? mine is probably risk or us. (partially because taylor is in it...) after listening to the secret of us. I don't know, but I might have to consider diving into more of her music after listening to this! her voice is so beautiful and she creates the most bone-chilling harmonies. I still have goosebumps from us. 😭🫶

question of the day for you guys: what's your favorite podcast? and I won't be offended if you don't say my podcast... there are so many podcasts out there with so many hosts that have A BUCKETLOAD more experience than I do. for me, it's probably cal's corner since cal is so funny and really relatable, and I love her guests. :) it is a podcast I totally recommend, so if you enjoy book content and q & a's, then it's a podcast for you!

also, this isn't necessarily a question of the day, but would you guys want more episodes like this? I'm planning to do one once onerepublic's new album comes out on the 12th of this month. would you like it if I did more content like this along with book content?

    hope y'all have a great day! :)

  • Allow me to Re-Introduce Myself
    Jun 30 2024

So, I've been gone for a while, and that's because I've been undergoing the process of reinventing my podcast. My new podcast (yes, I'll stay on this account and all my old episodes will still be available) will be called Juniper's Jams, and I'll focus on books, book reviews/recommendations (so if you guys have any books or series you want me to check out that would be wonderful!), music, music artists, and some more random things. I may touch the topic of Wings of Fire and Warriors every now and again, but it won't be a frequent episode topic. I hope you'll support me through this change and if you don't want to, I understand. You do you. Scales and Tails: A Wings of Fire and Warriors Podcast has been such a fun chapter this past year and a half, but I think I need to close it and start a new one. You guys have been the BEST fans I could ask for. You've been so supportive, loving, and hilarious. I've loved all of your guys' fan art, stories, and all the other little things you sent me. Love you (platonically, of course)! <3

Have a great day, and signing off for the final time, this is your host, Juniperheart (soon to be Juniper)! :)

  • Reviewing Taylor Swift's NEW Album, TTPD! [by your favorite tortured poet 🩶]
    Apr 20 2024

"She released a phantom clear vinyl, which is only availible at Target. I don't collect vinyls, but I could just... put it on display. It'll probably be an impulsive purchase, along with that weighted dinosaur plushie I bought last month.... *nervous laughter*."

"PAPOW PEW PEW PSHHDEHIUEHWFNSSHHHH POW and those other explosion noises."

"Yeah, the- the- the machine thingy. That's what we're calling it for now."

"Did you guys see the black dog in the music video? Yeah, that's my favorite part."

‼️ Trigger Warning: After I talk about my Swiftie origin story, I do talk about how Taylor uses some drug and alcohol metaphors in her new songs, so if that's a hard topic for anyone to listen to, I suggest that you don't listen to that segment. I am not trying to influence anybody in any sort of negative way, I just felt like it was necessary to address that some of the metaphors she uses aren't always the best. ‼️

How many of you are HYPED UP about Taylor Swift's new album! Or should I say, ✨double album✨? I know I am- considering I let out a bloodcurdling scream when she announced it during the Grammys (ask my family, they could hear it from across the house! 😳). In this episode, your favorite tortured poet, Juniperheart, talks about the new album, the Fortnight music video, new collaborators and duet tracks, and much more, including a more detailed version of how she became a Swiftie!

Oh, and of course we can't leave without asking the question of the day- or two.

Question of the day #1: What are your favorite songs from TTPD? Mine are definitely Fortnight, Clara Bow, So Long, London (even though it's very sad), Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus, and The Tortured Poets Department.

Question of the day #2: What's your favorite thing about spring? Or for my listeners in the Southern hemisphere, your favorite thing about winter? I love being able to go on hikes or bike rides in spring... and the flower-shaped cookies they offer at Panera Bread. :)

And finally, I have my first episode that's at a thousand plays already! Thank you guys so much for all the support on my ukulele parody.

I hope you guys have a great day, and enjoy the Tortured Poets Department! 🩶~Juniperheart~

  • Ranking Warriors Based on How Well They'd be at Random Skills
    Mar 13 2024

"Uhm, Juniperheart, why are you talking about Darktail face painting and Breezepelt teaching a kindergarten class and hogging all the juice boxes? Isn't that what Warrior Cats DON'T do?" Well, to answer your question, random person that has gotten ahold of my laptop and somehow typed two sentences in the description of this episode, that's because...

I'm back with another episode!.. after catching a winter cold (womp womp womp!) and having rehearsals again. Anyways, this was a super fun episode to do, and I love categorizing Warriors characters. I find it... very fun but relaxing at the same time. Do you guys want me to do more episodes like this? (Please say yes, I would do like a million of these with a million different guests :D!)

Since I haven't done my question of the day in a while- well, what seems like an eternity- I'm back with the question of the day! Three of them!

Question of the day 1: If you could use a color to describe yourself, what would it be? Mine would be yellow or blue (I wear blue ALL. THE. TIME.)

Question of the day 2: What's your favorite instrument you've played? And if you don't play an instrument, what instrument sounds best to your ears? I love the trombone since I play it, but the instrument that sounds best to my ears is a snare drum or a guitar

And finally, Question of the day 3: Who are your favorite music artists? My favorites are Taylor Swift and OneRepublic, but the honorable mentions go to Bon Iver, Harry Styles, and Chris Stapleton (kudos to Moonpaw for recently introducing me to some of his songs).

I hope you guys have a great day! :) ~Juniperheart~

  • Wings of Fire Dragons as... T-Swizzle Songs? [WoF Dragons as Songs pt. 3]
    Jan 31 2024

It's been a long time coming... see what I did there? ;)

Anyways, yes, it's been a very long time since I've recorded an episode. I know you guys probably thought I was dead, not responding to emails, and how did I not see your new comments and reviews? They were so nice :). It's been over two months now since I recorded an episode, and I did so much in that time- I helped my family out for the holidays and for New Year's, had a band concert (which meant I practiced my trombone like NOBODY'S BUSINESS)... and had what seemed like a trillion tests & quizzes I had to prepare and study for. Study guides galore, hooray!

I was recently talking to one of my friends (you know who you are, shoutout to you! ☺️), and we were talking about all the pressure that's been lifted off of our shoulders after the past few months and the holidays and taking breaks after all that to calm our minds. I said that doing the 1-year anniversary episode was a LOT for me to do, and that podcasting was occupying my brain and taking over my priorities, so I needed to set my laptop and microphone aside and take a breather... and that little breather ended up being a two-month-long breather. Kind of like Darkstalker's two thousand year nap! So, I hope you guys enjoy the new episode! I had so much fun making it, because I've been in this whole Taylor Swift "kick" lately, because, let's be honest, Reputation Taylor's Version is coming. *hiss*

✨tHe wOrLd GoEs oN aNoThEr dAy AnOtHeR lLaMa, BuT nOt fOr MeEe aLl I tHiNk AbOuT iS lLaMaS✨ Yes, I know those are not the correct lyrics.

In this episode, I continue my series of Wings of Fire dragons as songs, but Taylor Swift edition! I know, I know. I'm a Swiftie ;). From Clearsight expressing herself through The Lakes to Tsunami jamming out to the bass boom in Look What You Made Me Do and screaming at Queen Scarlet "LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO, SCARLET!" to Sunny carrying a boombox on her head and blasting You Need to Calm Down, telling everyone to calm down and let go of all their shame and worries, I talk about what feels like everything. Can anyone picture Winter in a Junior Jewels t-shirt? I think I just discovered my next art project :o.

Woah, I think I need to bleach my eyes out after picturing Winter wearing a Junior Jewels t-shirt and thick-rimmed glasses with a thick blonde Barbie wig jamming out to some cool funky music scribbling messages on his notebook with a glittery pen (of course) to his neighbor, Moon, who, of course, ignores him. *finds the trusty Oxi-Clean bleach and dumps it on my eyes like no one's business*

so, if you need me, I'll just be buying some more Oxi-Clean!

Have a great day, muchachos (and muchachas). ~Juniperheart~

  • Life Updates + Giving Warrior Cats Careers/Personalities
    Nov 19 2023

This is my first upload in

    nearly

    three

weeks. Wow. I apologize for taking a break, as my life has been busy- with two weeks of rehearsals preparing for tech, then tech week, then opening night (and closing night), then not knowing what to do with my first free week (no rehearsal, no after-school commitments, nothing!). I tried to make a podcast, but since I haven't picked up a Wings of Fire or Warriors book (I'm trying to focus on uploading more Wings of Fire/Warriors content rather than my rambles or Taylor Swift stuff- or any unhinged content 👍) in a while, I had absolutely nothing. That led to me suffering from a bit- okay, a LoOoOtT of creative burnout, and on top of the whole play thing, led me to experiencing a bucket load of emotional burnout. So, like I said in this episode, and in about every single episode I make after taking a break, thank you guys so much for your patience.

    ~

Wondering why I haven't released the 20k special yet? Well, my 1-year podcastiversary (yes, that's a real word now- you better not question it or else I'll throw you into a Caribbean rainforest full of mosquitoes at Lightning Mcqueen speed) is coming up, so I've decided to merge the 20k special with the 1-year special.

Wondering what the 20k/1-year special is going to be? Well, my friend, that's going to be a secret for now. I can't give any hints or anything... okay, I'll give one: It's going to be jam-packed with complete awesomeness and everything y'all are going to love!! <3

    ~

aAaAnYwAaAySsSs... in this episode, I take Warrior cats and give them human names, personalities, hobbies- such as ice making and beetle fighting, and careers. This was such a fun episode to do, and I think you might see a part 2 of this coming out soon! For those of you podcasters, feel free to use this episode as some fresh ripe content as long as you give the idea credit to me. Here's a quick summary of all the characters I did and all the careers I gave them:

(by the way, if you want to know the ✨interesting✨hobbies and personality traits I gave them, you're gonna have to listen to the episode)

    ~Cinderpelt/Cassandra: school nurse

    ~Graystripe/Gus: stay-at-home father

~Sparkpelt/Simone: information security analyst (idek what that is I just googled "careers" and that popped up 😭👍)

    ~Feathertail/Felicity: Kindergarten teacher :)

    ~Firestar/Floyd: firefighter

    ~Shadowsight/Shaggy*: student teacher/school nurse

    *like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo 🥲

Quick qotd: what is your favorite movie/documentary? for me, it would be Jumanji for my favorite movie and the "folklore" documentary (it's a Taylor Swift documentary ehehe) If you don't have a favorite movie/documentary, when do you start thanksgiving break?

    Have a great day! ~Juniperheart~
