Kid Congo Powers & Barry Adamson

  • Resumen

  • Today’s episode is a conversation between Kid Congo Powers and Barry Adamson.

Kid Congo Powers’ brand new memoir Some New Kind of Kick is out now on Omnibus Press and Hachette. Described by Mark Lanegan as an ‘instant classic of sex, drugs and punk rock’, it explores Kid’s experiences as a young, queer Mexican-American through his membership of three beloved groups: the Cramps; The Gun Club; and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds.

Barry Adamson’s memoir Up Above the City, Down Beneath the Stars, published by Omnibus last year, was described by the writer and cultural critic David Quantick as ‘One of the best music autobiographies ever written’. Propelled into punk with Magazine, Barry was the founding bass player in the Bad Seeds, and his acclaimed solo albums includes the Mercury-nominated Soul Murder.

Membership of the Bad Seeds is one of many curious parallels between the pair.

Joining Barry and Kid for a wide-ranging conversation is host Pete Astor. A singer, songwriter, lecturer and musician, known for his work in Creation Records’ indie band The Weather Prophets, among much else. Pete’s latest solo album, Time on Earth, was released on October 7th via Tapete Records.
