  • The End of Season Review
    Jun 19 2024

With Jess recovered from jet lag and Jacob recovered from a post-exam Otley Run, the two JBs are back for one final episode of Season 1 to do an End of Season Review. We briefly review the last game of the season against Exeter Chiefs before announcing our coveted, no-expense-spared, highly prized LTW Fancast End of Season Awards. We then debate on how our season has gone, going over on-field stuff like attack, set-piece and defence but also off-field stuff such as marketing and social media of women’s team. With player departures and new signings still to be confirmed, we also have a chat as to where we think this squad is at and what needs to be done to allow big improvements for next season. We then round off our end of season review with quality podcast journalism of cheap digs at Loughborough Lightning and musings on the weather. Enjoy!

  • You're MacQueen [said in your best John Snow voice] - Sale Sharks (H) Review, Exeter Chiefs (A) Preview
    May 27 2024

Jacob is once again joined by the wonderful Alex Bugg to process a sad 24 hours for the club, in which the team yet again failed to turn up at home followed by the news on Sunday morning that Vicky MacQueen will be departing the club at the end of the season. After giving a cathartic review of the game, and paying tribute to Vicky as well as recently announced soon-to-be retirees Becky Noon and Ofure Ugiagbe, we hit speculation season as there’s plenty of unknowns to digest as to what will the club do next before returning to more realistic grounds as we preview our final home game of the season against a Chiefs side looking to get some momentum going into the play-offs.

  • A Clifton Suspension Bridge Too Far - Bristol Bears (A) Review, Sale Sharks (H) Preview with guest co-host Alex Bugg
    May 20 2024

With Jess dialling in with voice notes from New Zealand reacting to a sensational win by Canada over the Black Ferns and positives from Tigers' defeat to the Bears, Jacob is pulled out of his deadline slumber by being joined by the wonderful Alex Bugg to co-host.

We go over some of the positives from the Bristol game, especially getting that try-scoring bonus point and nuance some of the negatives as we look as to why our defence struggled against the Bears. We then go over the nominations for our inaugural LTW Fancast Awards before delving into the role our Tigers Eagles and Canadians played in getting their superb wins in Pac 4 and herald their timely return just before our final home game of the season against Sale.

We round off the pod by getting excited by that Sale game, how Tigers could look to build up the previous weeks into a performance that can get us that elusive prize, our first top-flight victory at Mattioli Woods Welford Road but are also weary of Sale, fresh off a bye week, looking to avenge their home defeat to us earlier in the season. Enjoy

  • Behold the Bears! Quins (A) Review and Bristol Bears (A) Preview
    May 15 2024

With Jess ready to jet off to New Zealand and Jacob on the brink of final year uni deadlines, we still manage to cobble together a podcast episode that gives the illusion of preparation.

We go over the Quins game and talk about negatives but also the big positive of Celia Quansah’s long awaited debut for the club. In the news, we welcome the news about the Tigers Together scheme how that could benefit not just the women’s team but also girls rugby in general in Leicestershire, whilst also giving a Pac4 update for the listeners!

We then announce the shortlist for the LTW Fancast Listeners Player and Young of the Season before previewing a pretty daunting away fixture against Bristol who are looking to beat the odds and get a home semi. Enjoy

  • The Tortured Rugby Podcasters Department - Trailfinders Women Allianz Cup (A) Review, Six Nations Round Five Super Saturday Preview
    Apr 24 2024

The release of Taylor’s new album is feeling very apt right now, as despite the performances of our Six Nations gals and Leicester City having a superb weekend, we struggle to find the positives in a tough weekend for Leicester Tigers. However, positives we will find!

So listen in for the usual mix of catharsis, hope and a rant at our season being so bitty with only a nine team league as we chat about the different stages of where Tigers and Ealing are both at and why we shouldn’t panic! We will then turn our frowns upside down with Scotland’s awesome win over Italy and the momentum that Scotland’s campaign could give to Tigers when we’re back playing in May! Then follows the usual Meg Jones venerations as we get excited about our Six Nations internationals coming back to the club.

We then do a Deep Dive into France, the history of women’s rugby in France and where the national team is at as we face yet another Grand Slam decider between England and France on Super Saturday! Enjoy!

  • A Growing Rebellion - Harlequins (h) Allianz Cup game review with Max Kirby, Trailfinders Women (a) Allianz Cup game preview and more Six Nations chat!
    Apr 17 2024

Leicester Tigers Women were back in action finally the weekend just gone after six weeks with a 19-33 loss to Quins at home, Jacob is joined by superfan and listener Max Kirby to chat about the game.

We then go back to the Six Nations, pay reverence to Meg Jones kick pass and get worried about England’s discipline, as well as chat about the Lions investment! We also preview the next Tigers women game as we return to Ealing in the 7th play-off pool, focusing on building formations and game time rather then be too worried about the result.

We then have a deep dive about Irish Women’s rugby ahead of the England v Ireland fixture this weekend, in which Jacob basques in this glorious opportunity to have a rant about the IRFU, before finally previewing the rest of Round 4 of the Six Nations. Enjoy

  • Have We Got a Bit More Rugby News For You - Tigers vs Harlequins (Allianz Cup) (H) preview and Scotland v. England preview
    Apr 10 2024

Feeling fresh as a daisy* after celebrating his 21st birthday Jacob joins Jess for Episode No. 18. With a brief overlook at the limited women’s rugby that took place at the weekend, we take this episode as an opportunity to have a frank, honest and nuanced debate about some of the big news stories in rugby at the moment, celebrating the Return of the Queen Cliodhna Moloney to the Irish rugby set-up, before having a chat about certain comments made by ROG that have resurfaced this week as well as go over the World Rugby coaching course table that prompted a lot of outcry.

After that we finally after ages have a Tigers Women game to properly preview, with Tigers taking on Quins on Saturday in the Allianz Cup, and despair at torn allegiances as our Thistled Tigers face a Magic Meg-led Red Roses team in Round 3 of the Women’s Six Nations.
