  • Douglas Horn And The Dixie CBD Drops That Cost Him His CDL And Career
    Dec 2 2025

Horn was a long-haul truck driver who used Dixie Botanicals CBD Dew Drops, a product labeled “THC-Free,” to manage chronic back pain without opioids. During a routine DOT drug test, he unexpectedly tested positive for THC and was fired, losing his CDL and income. Lab results later showed the product contained detectable THC despite the label claiming otherwise. Horn sued Medical Marijuana, Inc., arguing that false labeling caused him economic harm. His attorney escalated the case under civil RICO, a law originally designed to prosecute organized crime. The case reached the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled that CBD and hemp companies can be held liable if mislabeling costs someone their job. The ruling forces cannabis companies to prove THC content accuracy and stops them from hiding behind vague labels. Horn didn’t set out to make history — he just wanted the truth, and in doing so, he changed the entire industry.
