  • Let's Review Stargate SG-1 Enigma
    Jul 8 2024

🌋aren’t the only thing erupting in this magnanimous episode where we are introduced to Colonel Harry Maybourne, the man we hate to love & love to hate #TomMcBeath

Also, guest starring is powerhouse #TobinBell as Omoc & #GarwinSanford as Narim

We’re just making friends left & right this episode

Original airdate might have been Jan 30th, 1998, once again true 🌟Stargate Magic🌟 is provided as this episode is still very much relevant with its take on our refugees treatment, as well as the impact of severe climate change conditions.

Imagine feeling ecstatic, just seeing an 🦅 flying because where you live birds have gone extinct

In the late 90s this episode really drove home for me the dangers & consequences of climate change.

It’s 25+ years later and we’re getting dangerously close to 🦋🐝 extinction. The time to act is NOW, people!

    May 20 2024

👨‍⚖️⚖👩‍⚖️Time to put your thinking caps back on!

Welcome back to the review of Stargate SG-1 Cor-ai.

We continue our review once again shining a spotlight on the talented Christopher Judge, inviting us to fall in UNDYING ❤️ for the character Teal'c as we continue to discuss redemption, where the responsibility and/or accountability of a soldier begins & ends, as well as the ableism shining through in choices made by the writers that I just cannot get past, despite the beautiful way they ended this episode

    What can I say, it's a Love/Hate relationship this particular episode 😇

  • Let's review Stargate SG-1 Cor-ai part 1
    Apr 21 2024

👨‍⚖️⚖👩‍⚖️Time to put your thinking caps on!

Original air date, January 23rd, 1998; almost 3 months after its previous episode Singularity. As with its review, the making of Cor-ai took some doing 😅

If anything, both the Stargate #sg1 episode as its #review will give you ample 👏food👏for👏thought👏: on #redemption, where #accountability of a soldier starts & stops, capital punishment & #ableism

This part 1️⃣ focuses on the UNDYING ❤️ for Teal'c that this episode solidified, as well as the redemption arc it provided us with.

However, it also confronts us with another BIG issue this episode: ABLEISM, in all its fucked-up glory. As a #disabled person with a now partially healed brain (from cptsd, mainly due to an ableistic upbringing & society) I could not ignore the clear ableist approach this episode utilized to imply that Teal'c's choice was not only "the easiest & most logical one", but that in his ✌killing of the gimpy one✌ he actually did them a FAVOR 🤯!

As you might imagine, that elicited quite a lot of FEELS & THOUGHTS, not to mention all the judicial & capital punishment this episode dishes out could entertain us for hours! As this review eventually will have done, hopefully 😇

So go give it a listen, tell us what YOUR take on the review & episode is & as always, go with 💟

  • Let's Review Stargate SG-1 Singularity
    Mar 19 2024

In this Stargate episode we learn that 🔭 can have more than 1 purpose😏

Original airdate of Stargate SG-1's 15th episode of the first season was Oct 31st, 1997

And even though we start off thinking the title refers to the SINGULARITY they are going to observe, one could say it also refers to the SINGLE survivor of the genocide happening in this episode.

And evenn though a genocide DOES happen here, it is in no way lacking in the 🌟Stargate MAGIC🌟 we’ve come to love

With all the happenings in this episode as well as the world at large, plus coming off of the Hathor episode, this #podcast review episode elicited several 🧠💨 train derailments (transcript will specify where/what/how) so the epi is YES, a week late, but also YES a little over an hour, so…..I’m sorry, and you are welcome?😅

Background is given on the people honored + introduced (#KatieStuart) in this episode, and as always, we go IN DEPTH! Like, deep, deep, DEEP! So, buckle up buttercups 🎢

🙏 don’t hate me after, for I do go DEEP & nothing sets ppl off quite like discussing religious beliefs 🙈 but everyone is allowed to believe what they choose, right? … Right?!👀

📚 recommendations #christianjacq & #wilbursmith for fellow Ancient Egyptian lovers & appreciators of a compelling Ancient Egyptian murder/mystery novel

    👑Your Queen has awakened

Though this episode is universally labeled as one of the weakest ones of the series, it still had its moments. Do y’all agree or does it get a ❌ all around?

As it was all about Ancient Egyptian Queens rising from the apparently Not So Dead, a download is given on the Pantheon of Gods.

Couldn’t pass up this golden opportunity for some #educationalfun involving 🍆🐟 snacking & magical 🍆💦 baby making. You are welcome 😌

💌 This epi allowed for the sharing of the many 🌈wonderful & 💡IMPORTANT ways the ancient Egyptian society was LIGHT YEARS ahead of us in comparison to where we are now, 5000 years later.

IMO this showcases we still have a long way to go to REINSTATE the many rights that were stripped from the masses in the millenia of #patriarchy #christianity, but maybe this can help light the way to how our TRUE ancestors thought, and not the colonizing enslavers ppl like to ✌quote✌ nowadays.

    #LGBTQIplus #LGBTQ #equality #feminism #VivaLaRevolution #FightForOurRights #AgeOfAquarius, baby🦄🤠 giddyup!

⚠ topics discussed: SA in episode, (religious) incestuous narratives & misogyny

  • Let's review Stargate SG-1 Fire & Water
    Feb 12 2024

🔥& 🌊, bubbles, military funerals & #trauma are today’s themes as we review Stargate SG-1’s 13th episode Fire & Water.  The original air date was October 17, 1997

Originally the episode was called 🔹Funeral for a friend🔹 but guessing that was too on the nose?

This episode once again shows us that 🌟Stargate MAGIC🌟whilst tackling the heavy topic of the team trying to cope with the trauma of having (supposedly) witnessed the death of their friend.

As a therapist with #cPTSD herself, the handling of this subject in this episode was, shall we say SUBPAR, even for the 90s. So ⚠ we WILL delve into this bit, calling out their dismissive yet common (i.e. normalized) attitude many carry, especially for people serving in the armed forces.

✨Shoutouts to people, celebs & other franchises referenced are Supernatural #spn; is Daniel here pulling a Winchester or were the Winchesters pulling a Daniel?

#CinemaTherapy, Schrödingers cat, Sigmund Freud & #BDSM also come up in the episode, and if ya wanna know HOW in relation to this episode, give us a listen @ 🎤Let’s Review with Layla & You🎧 #Spotify & #RSScom

  • Let's review Stargate SG-1 Bloodlines
    Jan 21 2024

🧬FAMILY is what it is ALL about in this episode called Bloodlines, the 12th episode of season 1 Stargate SG-1. Original air date was October 10th, 1997.

💌FAMILY DON'T END WITH BLOOD & SOMETIMES IT DON’T START WITH BLOOD EITHER

⚠Due to the serious topics touched upon this episode, both my 🎓PROFESSIONAL & 🙋‍♀️PERSONAL knowledge & experience is shared to showcase why IMO

**you should never LIE to a child

    **you should ALWAYS heed a child’s boundaries & RESPECT their #freewill & #choice

**you should always honor their ROOTS; yes also when this involves allowing them access to a dysfunctional/troubled parent (with the proper precautions), and letting the child decide for themselves whether or not, and in what way to incorporate that parent into their lives

  • Let's Review Stargate SG-1 The Torment of Tantalus
    Jan 8 2024

🔹Temptation🔹 & 🔹Torment🔹 are today’s themes as we review Stargate SG-1’s 11th aptly named episode: The Torment of Tantalus. Original air date,October 3rd, 1997

Once again, a 🌟Stargate MAGIC🌟 filled episode providing us with both meaningful & funny entertainment.

However, they now introduce a storyline that glaringly points out a plot hole that was missed in the Stargate movie review due to all the excitement I guess? Oopsie 😅

Help me out: am I the only one that now suddenly realizes Daniel’s entire presence in the Stargate franchise is quite possibly wholly unnecessary with this new storyline introduced by the writers?

But as we 💙 Daniel, this revelation was easily ignored by all, I’m guessing

✨Themes touched upon are (dis)honorable, sassy military officers, veterans and the brother/sisterhood that develops among people who serve together. ✨Shoutouts to people, celebs & other franchises referenced are the Stargate (1994) movie, SEAL team, SPN fam, WILSON! from Cast Away, and even a Downton Abbey #FunFact!

A special Stargate shout out to the great 🌟Paul McGillion🌟, a much beloved actor you might also recognize from Stargate Atlantis.

Also in today’s episode Catherine Langford portrayed by 🌟Elizabeth HOFFman🌟 who is as it turns out NOT related to Stargate Universe alum 🌟Alaina HUFFman🌟

BOTH great additions to the franchise 💗

📞Call back 🤓🔎 to Tantalus, Pelops’ daddy from our earlier discussed Greek tragedy in the Brief Candle podcast review episode. Considering what Big Daddy did…can’t really disagree with this poetic punishment😅 How about y’all?
