LSU baseball's season will end Monday night after falling 4-3 in extras to the UNC Tar Heels in an elimination game in the Chapel Hill regional. Although the Tigers entered the ninth inning with a one-run lead with ace Gage Jump on the mound, defensively they were not able to hold on and surrendered one run to the Tar Heels in both the ninth and tenth innings.

LSU Tigers head coach Brian Kelly has received a lot of criticism over the years – whether it is as silly as poking fun at his pronunciation of the word "family" or as serious as questioning whether or not he can win a national championship. However, what no one can argue is that Brian Kelly is not a good coach, especially after what he has done in his first two years in Baton Rouge. Kelly took a decimated roster and turned it into an SEC West champion. Kelly developed a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback and has notched double-digit wins in each of his last two seasons. So why the criticism? ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy doesn't agree.

“I don’t really know what there is to be negative about with Brian Kelly," McElroy said on the Always College Football Podcast. "Like, he won 10 games, he has been to the SEC Championship already.”

Moving forward throughout Kelly's tenure at LSU, the expectations will raise; in fact, that is exactly why Kelly came to LSU in the first place. He wanted the challenge of a place with sky high expectations in the most competitive conference in the entire sport. So at what point do the expectations raise and how different might those expectations look in the era of a 12-team College Football Playoff?

Plus, former LSU Tiger Justin Jefferson signed a massive four-year, $140 million extension with the Minnesota Vikings on Monday morning, making him the highest paid non-quarterback in the NFL. The highest paid quarterback in the NFL? Jefferson's old LSU teammate Joe Burrow. How can Kelly leverage that deal and former Tigers in the NFL into recruiting?
