The Detroit Tigers suffered a disappointing loss against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Thursday afternoon, with a final score of 10-2. Detroit's bats were largely silent except for a two-run home run by Spencer Torkelson in the top of the seventh inning, which also scored Colt Keith. The Tigers managed only five hits throughout the game and struck out 11 times, struggling against Cubs' starting pitcher Justin Steele, who delivered an impressive 7 innings, allowing just two earned runs and striking out 10. Tyler Holton started for the Tigers but lasted only one inning, giving way to Kenta Maeda who then surrendered six earned runs over five innings. Joey Wentz struggled in relief, giving up four runs in the seventh. Miguel Amaya led the Cubs' offense, going 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs, while Pete Crow-Armstrong and Dansby Swanson each contributed two runs batted in. As a result, Detroit's record drops to 62-65 as they continue their road trip.
