Detroit Tigers were defeated by the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Javy Baez made his return to Wrigley Field for the first time since playing for the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers were held to just one run, scored in the second inning when Dillon Dingler singled to center, driving in Spencer Torkelson. Alex Faedo started strong but was pulled after 1.2 innings, leaving Bryan Sammons to take over and allow three runs, which included Cody Bellinger's clutch two-RBI double in the fifth. Dansby Swanson added insurance with a solo home run in the sixth. Despite Spencer Torkelson's perfect 4-for-4 night at the plate, the Tigers couldn't overcome the Cubs' pitching, striking out 13 times. Javier Assad excelled for Chicago, striking out seven and giving up just one run over 5.2 innings. With this loss, Detroit Tigers continue their challenging road trip.
